DISCLAIMER: D. Gray-man belongs to Katsura Hoshino, TV Tokyo, Funimation and TMS, (As far as I know that's all of them) and seeing as my name is moontoga29, I do not own D. Gray-man, making this story solely for entertainment purposes. But I do own this song, so HA.

A/N: I am SUCH a liar. In my defense I SERIOUSLY thought I wouldn't leave my study room except for food and hygiene, but the call of -man was simply too strong.

Moving on, this is a song a wrote a while back. It is called To Dust and Ashes as can be inferred from the title, and I thought it fit nicely with the cycle of tragedy that is humans, Akuma, exorcists and Noah. The ashes miming thing just reminded me of the creepily swaying souls of Akuma that Allen sees. To me they always looked like mimes or clowns. Not to in any way belittle the suffering of the souls of Akuma, just saying.

I hope you enjoy my attempt at being poetic and insightful.

WARNINGS! It's amazing, none again. Except beware, if you have a weak stomach for crappy poetry this MAY CAUSE OPTICAL BLEEDING!

Without further ado, Ashes...and DUST TOO! (Yay for combined Shatner and Yoda reference in the lead).

All these people blindly smiling

Don't they see the loved ones mourning?

Can't you hear their wounded cries?

For you to open up your eyes

Don't you see it all around us?

Suffering, bleeding then back to dust

We will return in time

To look on as the ashes mime

Our hopes, our fears, our lives, our dreams

Our loves as they tear at the seems

Mocking our choices all our mistakes

And our fate which we cannot escape

For ashes we were and ashes we'll be

To scorn those after us as destiny

Bids us to see to

So our heirs will be just like me and you

A vicious circle of tyranny

Judged by fates and apathy

Condemned to despair for past misdeeds

Of predecessors and their idiocy

So we pay the price and take the blame

Burnt at the stake, to return again

To dust and ashes

Whilst that phase passes

To dust and ashes

Whilst that phase passes

All these people blindly smiling

Don't they see the loved ones mourning?

Can't you hear their wounded cries?

For you to open up your eyes

Don't you see it all around us?

Suffering, bleeding then back to dust

We will return in time

To look on as the ashes mime

A/N: Any minute now...any minute now. Me? Oh I'm waiting to be smote by the exam people in the sky for not being a good student and doing something practical like, i don't know, studying before an exam.

Reviews are welcome but again I'm definitely not an expert poet, though I do in fact know it (yeah, I just made that joke), so I'm not sure what you can review me on. POSSIBLE SUCKAGE? Did I include that in my WARNINGS! section? No. Well it's kind of implied by MAY CAUSE OPTICAL BLEEDING. Woot, my story retains Road Kamelot-esque powers of eye related wreakage.

All joking aside, *Random Sarcastic Onlooker: OHMIGAWD!!127tr98egvg!!! APOCALYPSE!!!! moontoga29: *Shani-wtf-glare* No one is sarcastic towards me dude. I have a degree in Sarcasm from Facetious University (more commonly known as F.U.) majoring in irony and derision with a minor in Trekonomics. Random Sarcastic Onlooker: ... moontoga29: Yeah, that's what I thought*.

Ahem, ALL JOKES ASIDE, I would be interested in knowing if my poetry is of any interest to you all in that I would be willing to write more poetry dedicated to -man. As poems personally help me with writer's block it may be a quick solution to that problem.

An unhello to you all - moontoga29
