Author's Note: I do not own any of the characters in FF7
or anything of Squaresoft for that matter. The song "Sweet Surrender"
belongs to Sarah McLachlan. I did not write it.
It doesn't mean much
It doesn't mean anything at all
The life I've left behind me
Is a cold room
I've crossed the line
From where I can't return
Where every step I took in faith
Betrayed me and led me from my home
Cloud stood there unblinkingly as Aeris knelt before the alter. Her hands
clasped in prayer and her head lowered. Small rays of light trickled down from
above. Every now and then, they would touch the water, causing it to shimmer
and glisten. This gave the magnificent place a peaceful, serene feel to it.
Soon, the tranquil quietness turned into an eerie, unnerving silence. The
delicate rays of light disappeared as a shadow from above swallowed them into
its darkness. Aeris looked up at the sudden change of lightening only to come
face to face with her upcoming death. A fallen angel descending from the
heavens above to slay an innocent lamb.
And sweet, sweet surrender
Is all that I have to give
You take me in
No questions asked
You strip away the ugliness
That surrounds me
Are you an angel?
Am I already that gone?
I only hope that I won't disappoint you
When I'm down here on my knees
The girl gasped as sharp metal skewered her in the back and protruded out from
her stomach. Her hands fall to her side lifelessly. Her eyes widen as she
realizes that she had surrendered. All in hopes to save the Planet.
And sweet, sweet, sweet surrender
Is all that I have to give
And I don't understand
By the touch of your hand
I would be the one to fall
Cloud looked on in horror. Standing there in stunned silence. Sephiroth looked
up, an evil glint in his eye. He then smirked before pulling the Masamune from
the now lifeless body. Cloud ran up to the alter to catch Aeris' body as it
slid off the sword. He held Aeris in his arms as a tear slid down his cheek.
Oh, how he would miss her.
I miss the little things
Oh I miss everything
"How can you have such emotions? You are merely a puppet." Sephiroth
remarked as he saw the tears form in Cloud's eyes.
It doesn't mean much
It doesn't mean anything at all
Cloud turned his head around to notice that the ominous presence had left. He
had left him to wallow in his own sorrow. Cloud stood up as he cradled Aeris in
his arms. He then carried her over to the lake that was near the alter. He shut
her eyes before laying her in the water.
It doesn't mean much
It doesn't mean anything at all
The life I left behind me
Is a cold room
Then he let her go, his own sweet surrender
