Its about Pete's memories looking back onto a day his life changed forever...

He Remembers

He remembers when it all went wrong. When Claudia got a phone call from Myka telling them that dinner was ready and they had to get back. He remembers waiting at a red light, He remembers when a car slammed in to them. When the car flipped and rolled down the street. He remembers when he couldn't do anything but hold his breath and close his eyes.

He remembers the dust settling. He remembers the pain, the blackness filling his vision. He remembers looking over to Claudia. He remembers how still she was. He remembers calling her name, reaching out to her, crying out for people to help them. He remembers the paramedics holding him down on the stretcher, He remembers the paramedics trying to quieten him from screaming her name, He remembers when he blacked out reaching for her hand.

He remembers waking up in a hospital bed. He remembers the silence, the tied looks on the faces of his family sitting and standing around him, the red eyes of Artie. The steady flow of tears from Myka. The gentile rocking from Leena, He remembers looking to Myka for answers. He remembers her looking straight at him tears falling down her face. He remembers the look, the look his mother gave him all those years ago.

He remembers her voice so timid, so full of sadness "she.. well.. she didn't make it she didn't make it ..She's gone Pete" her voice breaking. He remembers when Artie sank to his knees and cried. He remembers when Leena called Joshua. He remembers the look on her face when the call ended . He remembers the pain in his heart, He remembers the guilt. He remembers when the tears wouldn't stop. He remembers when he couldn't feel his legs.

He remembers when he asked to see her, to say goodbye. He remembers seeing Joshua coming out from the room where she lay, looking lost, wishing it was a dream, before he sat in a plastic chair, Hands to his face, His whole body shaking, crying out for his baby sister ,to see her smile ,to hear her laugh. He remembers when he was pushed into the room past Joshua. He remembers the look Joshua gave him. It should be you and not her.

He remembers her looking so still, so peaceful, He remember holding her hand , telling her that he was sorry ,telling her that it should have been him . He remembers when he tried to reach her forehead to kiss her goodbye; He remembers when he fell, when he finally broke.

He remembers the nightmares. He remembers when he discharged himself, meeting Myka at the entrance, who greeted him with a forced smile. He remembers the first dinner back. He remembers going to his new room for the first time. He remembers seeing pictures and boxes full of her stuff at the bottom of the stairs. He remembers trying to take his own life.

He remembers the date, the place, and the time. He remembers when he couldn't carry her coffin. The flowers, the sad faces, He remembers the speeches, how guilty he felt, He remembers when she was lowered, when the flowers where placed on top, when it started to rain, When he stayed behind. He remembers placing his flower on her stone as well as a guitar pick which he took and never gave her it back.

He remembers saying, his final goodbye.
