Ok. Hello everyone! This is just a quick one-shot of Asuma and Kurenai's last meeting (before he (spoiler censored)). Um...I don't mind flames as long as they tell me how to improve and don't just shoot me. um...please read and review!

"Kurenai," he whispered softly, his voice rough. "I'm sorry. I have to go." She met his eyes and saw something. "What's wrong?" she asked quietly. He shrugged. "Asuma?"

"A friend…" he trailed off, losing his voice. She understood. All shinobi understood.

She suddenly moved away and grabbed something from the table. "Here," she murmured, wrapping his hand around its smooth surface. She let go. Asuma brought his hand to his face and opened it slowly.

Contrasting against the brown of his palm was a small milky stone. He held it inches from his eyes, casting his gaze into its swirling depths. "For luck," Kurenai muttered.

He regarded her, smiling. "Thank you." She turned her back. "And now?" Asuma asked.

"You better come home," her voice broke. "You have to." He wrapped his arms around her, rocking gently. "I will. I promise."

So? Did you like it? Yes, no, maybe, three quarters, one eighth? Again please review! :)
