Caroline frowned as she silently shut her back door. She couldn't sleep and tossing and turning was killing her hair. She shivered, regretting not grabbing a hoodie. Her silk pajama pants and tank top were not cutting it. She began walking around her patio.
Caroline sighed. Every time she would even get a little sleep she would be haunted with that same nightmare. The dream was so dark. But she knew what happened even if it was blurred. That night of the Founders' Day Ball, it would replay in her mind. The nightmare always ended in the same way, he would kill her. In her heart she somehow knew that he would have killed her. But for some reason he had stopped, fallen to the floor. She didn't understand what had happened but he had been so gentle but then he had bitten her. Hard. Somehow she thought it was better to not sleep at all, to escape that horrible memory. Then she had stupidly unlocked the door thing. She wished that he would have at least bothered to say thank you or something. But Damon wasn't one to do that. She didn't expect it and even being as confident as she was, Caroline would not stoop to the level of going and doing something like asking him. No matter how hard she wanted to some times. It was simple though, she felt fairly sure if she were to go to make a point of it to him, Damon might kill her. She had managed to escape him, but she had also let him out. He had made her do it, he had been so pleading. She shuddered. She needed to stop thinking about him.
Caroline closed her eyes. Why did he have to be so beautiful? Those blue eyes . . . It was hard to not melt. He made her feel so…so…how to describe it? He was in control; he made her do things, made her feel as if she was worthless. He told her she was worthless. She tried to be caring. She really did, but her personality was just shallow.
Now, even though the nightmare disturbed her, she couldn't think about those days it was like being in heavy fog. It was his fault. He had messed with her memory then treated her like shit. She had tried to get him the damned necklace; she had put her best friend down for him! But that didn't matter to him. She didn't matter to him. It wasn't fair everyone had someone to love. Stefan had Elena, Bella had Edward, and Alexander had Raven! They all had storybook endings. Why couldn't she have someone? Damon obviously wasn't that person. He seemed to hate her. Damon used her, always making her do things like she was his toy. A toy he could bend in every which direction. She wondered why he hadn't just killed her. Caroline was no worth to him. All she was to him was a pawn.
