The infection had started in the north, where the four Clans were said to dwell, by the lake. Apparently the healers could do nothing to stop it from spreading, and were eventually infected themselves. Then it had traveled south, through the mountains and forests, possessing everything it bit. Rated T for blood, violence, and gore.

Kalypso shook out her fur, fighting against the winter chill that seemed to seep into the very earth. The black she-cat glanced behind her, to see if Cilia and Snuffle were still behind her. Much to her relief, they were only inches away, gripping the slippery rock with their claws, as the wind buffeted their fur.

An open plain of desolation stretched out before them, now littered with overturned dumpsters and tattered bodies of dogs and cats, their flesh ripped open. Tears welled in Kalypso's golden eyes as she glanced upon what had once been home. The infection had started in the north, where the four Clans were said to dwell, by the lake.

Apparently the healers could do nothing to stop it from spreading, and were eventually infected themselves. Then it had traveled south, through the mountains and forests, possessing everything it bit. Kalypso's very own brother's had been the last victims. She could still hear their screams as the undead surrounded them, and she could still see the fear on their faces, when they, too, were infected.

Snuffle put an auburn paw on her shoulder, leaning on her, and panting heavily. The brown tom was much smaller than her, though the same age, and wasn't capable of making long climbs. Cilia grasped a shiny black object in her mouth, called a 'gun'. It was a twoleg contraption, made so that if the trigger was pulled, it spat out a small silver pellet called a bullet, that killed anything in its path.

Cilia and Snuffle had been trained to use these 'guns' from the age of three moons old. The three of them had grown up in an alleyway in the abandoned city, each trained to use a weapon to fight off the infected. In the twelve moons that she had been alive, Kalypso had always wondered if the virus was just some rumor started by a superstitious old house cat.

But now, as she stood on the ridge overlooking the city, she knew that the innocent days of her kit-hood were gone. This was the apocalypse.

Allegiances

Survivor Group 1:

Leader: Kano- White and black tom with a split marking, and blue eyes (named after a computer)

Scout: Paige- Cream she-cat with white scribble-like marks on her back and green eyes

Bodyguards

Keisha- Heavy-set black she-cat with a white muzzle and green eyes (trained in using knives)

Glass- White tom with amber eyes and tan ears (trained in the use of spears/steaks)

Survivor Group 2

Leader: Snowflight- tan she-cat speckled with white, blue eyes

Scout: Kyte- Slim grey she-cat with a white muzzle and chocolate-brown eyes

Bodyguards

Squirreltail- fluffy ginger she-cat with amber eyes and white paws

Skate- Black and grey striped tom with green eyes

Lemur- Small black and grey striped tom with large amber eyes

Survivor Group 3

Leader: Kalypso- Black she-cat with dark grey paws and golden eyes (half of face robotic from a twoleg science experiment. Trained in the use of knives/wooden steaks)

Scout: Snuffle- Chocolate-colored, auburn speckled tom with red-brown paws and green eyes(trained in the use of gun)

Bodyguards

Cilia- Cream and grey speckled she-cat with blue eyes
