Jaime bent down to scoop up some snow in his hand and form into a perfect round ball. He glanced up occasionally, making sure his enemy wasn't near enough to hit him in the face with a ball of frozen water.
"This seems illogical," the scarab decided to express his thoughts, "the only thing this will end in is making you cold and therefore lacking in your judgements."
Jaime shhhed the scarab and began picking his way forward through the deep snow trying his best not to make sound and alert his enemy. At one point he thought he had heard a soft giggle and a streak of blonde flash in the corner of his eyes, but could still not find his enemy.
It was supposed to be recon mission. It wasn't very important, but Nightwing had been sending him out on small missions probably testing his loyalty and making sure he wasn't still on mode. It had been scary being on mode. He hated it. Jaime was forced to watch as he hurt his friends and loved ones and almost helped the reach win the war. He had, thankfully, come to his senses and, with the help of his teammates, he was able to crash the mode as Bart would say.
Jaime was jarred out of his thoughts by the sound of snow crunching directly behind him. He spun around to find no one there except a set of footprints. "Where could she have... crap!" Too late Jaime turned around to get a snowball straight to the gut. "Ouch" he fell to the ground clutching his stomach in pain.
"Oh gods," Jaime felt his enemy land softly beside him "are you okay? I am soo sorry."
Jaime looked up into the crystal blue eyes and blonde hair he was so familiar with. "Oh," he said a playful smirk on his face "I will be." He quickly took the snowball in his hand and through it at her lightly. She laughed her usual amazing laugh that made him want to melt and brushed the snow of her jacket.
After Jaime had been revived from the mode, Cassie had been the first to trust him again. It made him happy that she had so much faith in him and it helped a lot to have someone who believed in him. Jaime was snapped back to reality when Cassie lightly touched his shoulder. "Blue?" she asked concern in her voice.
"He looked into her cerulean blue eyes and smiled. "Sorry, just thinking." he said. She smiled back at him, making him go a little dizzy. "Come on," she said extending a hand out to help him up "I don't think Nightwing will be too happy if he found out we got distracted."
Jaime accepted her hand and pulled himself up and together they walked back to their post, walking maybe a little bit closer than usual.
