Brother

A.N. Anonymous wanted: Your only son has died, a week old at the most. The only children you have now are your daughters, & you still need to tell your husband the bad news.

The Queen of Arendelle sat on the windowsill and leaned her head on the glass. She was deeply depressed. Her little son died. Just like that. Out of the blue. And he was just a week old. The only one who knew was Gerda. For now. She's tried so hard to convince her husband to have another child and now…he just died. And the worst thing is: she still had to tell him and her daughters. She could hide this from him for now -which wasn't too difficult, because he had a lot of work to do- but she couldn't hide this forever.

Especially not when she was like this. It happened that morning and she hasn't eaten since. Actually, she just sat there by the window and stared outside with empty eyes. Even when Anna and Elsa came in to play with her, she couldn't even manage a smale smile for them. And when they asked her where their little brother was, she completely lost it. She harshly sent them away and cried her eyes out in that empty room. She felt really bad for yelling at them. They'd done nothing wrong.

Later that that her husband entered their chamber. She didn't even dare to look up. Even when he stood next to her. "What's wrong, my dear? I've heard you're upset…" Anna, Elsa and some servants must've told him. She didn't dare to speak though. She knew her voice will just break if she tried to speak.

That's when Agdar noticed how quiet it was and that the crib was gone. She wanted Gerda to take it away that evening, she just couldn't look at it anymore. "Did something happen?" He tried again. "Where's Olaf?" When she heard her son's name, she broke out in tears again.

Her husband hugged her immediately and tried to comfort her. "Tell me what's wrong." He said in a firm but soft voice, while she kept crying on his shoulder. But she knew she had to tell him now. "He's…he's…dead…" She sobbed, while the king's eyes widened.

Before he could say anything, she continued. "G-Gerda was with me when-when it happened…He-he just lay there in his crib and…and then he just died. W-we don' k-know what happened." Agdar didn't say anything, he just hugged his wife tighter and tried to stay strong for her. Even if he felt like crying, too. He did hear of children who died without warning, but he never thought that this'll happen to their child. It took a few hours, but eventually the queen was too tired to cry more and fell asleep.

The queen woke up when something cold fell on her face. When she opened her eyes, she saw Elsa and Anna there. She blinked surprised, wondering what they're doing here, before she noticed that her husband was sitting right next to her. When something cold fell on her face again, she looked up and saw that it's snowing. Was Elsa upset?

She looked back to her, but Elsa didn't look that upset to her. Did she try to cheer her up? She sat up and wanted to ask them what they're doing there, but Anna beat her to it. "Don't be upset, Mama." The little girl said and hugged her. "Olaf's in heaven now, right? Papa said he'll always be with us." Said Elsa and hugged her as well.

So, Agdar told them…After glancing over to the window, she noticed that it was noon. She sure slept very long…Then she felt another pair of arms wrapping around her. She felt the tears coming back again, as she held her little girls tightly. She knew she'd never be the same again after losing her little son, but at least she still had Agdar, Elsa and Anna.
