Hey everyone. This story is brought to you by Hogwarts Southern Winter Funfair Mistletoe Madness, and December Writing Club's Disney Challenge on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Mistletoe Madness I wrote for Regulus Black/Roxanne Weasley. For Disney Challenge I wrote for prompt 2 of Dialogues which was "How can you read this? There's no pictures!" "Well, some people use their imaginations.". I hope you all enjoy Ghostly Love Story.
Regulus didn't know what in his life or afterlife he had done to deserve this. It shocked him when he went from his ghost form to a suddenly solid human boy. But even it was even more shocking when the girl in the library with him at the moment jump startled at his sudden in presence in the room. He hadn't meant to startle her though. He'd only come in there to watch people read wishing that he could do the same once again.
"Were you here the whole time?" sixteen year old girl asked closing her book that she'd been reading.
"I was," he replied which wasn't really a lie. He'd been sitting there the whole time even if he wasn't visible to her eyes. He looked at the book that sat in front of her on the table. Pulling it over to leaf through like he used to when he was alive he noticed that there was no pictures in this book. He laughed at closing the book.
"What?" she asked raising a well manicured eyebrow at him.
"How can you read this?" he asked still laughing gently. "There's no pictures!"
"Well, some people use their imaginations," she informed him as though this should be obvious to anyone. "My name is Roxanne," she told him as she held out her hand for him to shake. "Roxanne Weasley."
He shook her hand gently afraid that at any moment that he'd turn invisible again and this moment would be lost to him forever. "I'm Regulus," he told her making sure not include his last name. He was pretty sure that if he told her he was Regulus Black she'd probably go running and screaming out of the room.
"It's nice to meet you Regulus. Do you come here often?"
Nodding Regulus smiled at Roxanne. "I love to read," he told her the smile growing bigger as he told her of all his favorite books. Most of which had pictures but some did not.
"You've read all those books?" Roxanne asked sounding impressed.
"Yeah. My brother likes to make fun of me because I read so much. Then again my brother enjoys pranking people more than he enjoys sitting still long enough to read a book. If you know what I mean?"
Her laugh sounded like the pealing of bells on a Sunday afternoon and Regulus felt happy that he was the one able to illicit this reaction from Roxanne. "I know just the type," she told Regulus with a small smile. "Some of my cousins are exactly like that. They'd be sitting here calling us nerds for all this book talk."
Feeling like he was about to turn invisible again Regulus stood up from the table sadly. Smiling at Roxanne he leaned over and kissed her gently before pulling back. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I have to go meet my brother. But I hope to see you again soon."
"I hope to see you again soon too."
Regulus walked around the corner as quick as he could because the feeling of turning invisible was overwhelming him. After he turned the corner he found himself back in his invisible form. Perhaps he'd have to try and see if he could achieve visibility again some time. He really wanted to get to know Miss Roxanne Weasley better.
