Chapter One

A.N: First Fanfic mates go easy on me please. Constructive criticism and new ideas is very welcome. :) Thanks

Holly's P.O.V

To think of all that's happened so far I've certainly came a long way, too much excitement, adventure, and tragedy for a young Captains heart. For the most part it was worth it. Of course we could've done without the whole Opal Koboi and Briar Cudgeon brouhaha. Well at least that's done with. I admit that bringing down that pixie was much more difficult than I had expected. It's safe to say that if it weren't for Artemis Fowl the world would be in a cross-species war right now. Opal was cunning, deceptive, determined and intelligent but lacked one vital thing that Artemis had: Friends. I sighed as I rummaged through the masses of paperwork. Being commander was a tedious job these days. I missed going up to the surface and inhaling the fresh crisp air. My thoughts were interrupted by a curt knocking on my office's Plexiglas doors.

"Come in" I said not bothering to look up. The doors slid open with a gentle hiss.

"Good morning Commander, looking lovely today as usual"

I sighed at Chix Verbil's routine morning statement.

"Captain, how many times need I tell you to keep a professional tone in this office?"

"Of course Commander" He said straightening up, his features becoming more serious. "Just a few papers to be signed and things to be approved by you"

"Leave them at my desk Verbil."

"Will do m'lady, I mean Commander. Have a wonderful day" He said leaving my office, but not before sparing me a wink. Ugh Sprites are all the same. Give them a pair of wings and they think they're God's green-skinned gift to the females. I looked over to the pile of paperwork and began my seemingly never ending tasks.

Artemis Fowl's P.O.V

A fierce foe but pathetic nonetheless, pathetic only because she lost. Of course she lost, had Opal actually thought that she could beat me? I remember having many a good laugh over her childish naivety. I am a Fowl. I never lose, I never go unavenged. Credit must go to my friends also, especially to Captain Holly Short-or Commander Short I should say now. Her military preparedness was most rewarding. That kleptomaniac dwarf saved out hides on more than one occasion I should add. Ahh Butler of course, my old friend. Of without which I would not even be alive now. Foaly played a large part also, I suppose.

"Sir, you've held that pensive look to you for a while now. Everything okay in there?" Butler said referring to my thoughts.

"Of course Butler, it's just this retched Atlantis Complex. Making me think quite random thoughts during my conversations. I have nothing to be shocked about though, Dr. Argon told me this was to be expected. Part of the process to treat it is all." I replied.

"I can tell there are still traces of it on you. Your sentences seem….awkwardly worded." I simply nodded, acknowledging his statement. I got up from my Victorian styled leather chair and walked over to the ceiling-to-floor windows.

"Strange thing we live in." I remarked looking out at the seemingly endless lot of acres.

"Hmm…." Butler concisely replied. To my annoyance. I swiftly turned around on my heels.

"Shall we ring for tea then my old companion?" Strange indeed this Complex was. But enjoyment pouring from its spores. Curiouser and curiouser, as the estranged Alice would put it.
