I should probably not listen to depressing Lifehouse music. Hmm... Some of their songs are so sad... Oh, dear. I even wanted to write a song fic for Furuba! I'm not a huge fan of that manga... But I might do it anyways. Idk. A fic for Yuki, the song being Simon, by Lifehouse. Agree? Disagree? Anyways... This didn't exactly turn out a masterpiece, but whatever. Comments are highly appreciated... So.... Enjoy, I guess.

Without You

Hikaru looked out the window, looking out the window of his room at the darkened sky. The stars were sparkling so brightly, they were almost dancing. Dancing in celebration of...

Of nothing. What was there to celebrate.

Hikaru slowly closed his eyes, feeling every movement of his muscles. Feeling the slight brush of his eyelashes against his skin. He opened them again slowly and turned his gaze to the full moon. It, too, seemed to be celebrating. It was bright and full, casting moon beams into his room through the window. Dust swirled in its wake.

He reached out to catch a beam, but it illusively slipped through his grasp.

Just as she had...

But he didn't want to think about her.

He didn't want to think about them.

He drew a breath in, slowly, feeling only the sensation of the air flowing into his lungs.

Then he breathed out.

Slowly.

He couldn't stop them, even if he had tried.

But he didn't want to think about them.

To distract himself, he named the constellations, savoring the words of the star's names as he connected the dots. The Bear and its Cubs... Orion... The Dog Star...

She had taught him their names.

A shudder ran down his spine as he involuntarily thought of her.

And them.

Together.

He resisted the emotions and memories that came rushing back to him swiftly, but couldn't stop the flowing river of mixed feelings.

He was sad; she would never be his now.

He was angry; was he not good enough for her?

He was hurt; she had left himself for another guy.

But, somehow, among that mix of emotions, he felt just a slight tinge of happiness. For himself? No. Of course not. He loved her and wanted her to be his.

For the other guy? Ha ha, yeah right. If he felt anything for or towards that guy, it was fury. He wanted to kill that guy.

It was for her. He looked at her face and couldn't help but feel happy, too. She smiled happily and laughed. She looked happier than he had ever seen her. She looked happier than when she had been with him.

Don't get it wrong, she had been happy when she had been with Hikaru, but now her happiness just seemed to radiate out of every pore of her body. It was like she just shined with pure joy.

It amazed Hikaru.

It amazed and hurt him.

He would be happy for a split second, then the wondering of 'What does he have that I don't?' would come into his head. He couldn't help but wonder that.

That guy was annoying, loud, oblivious, stupid, idiotic, childish and so many other things that Hikaru couldn't understand how she found it attractive. He just didn't see how it was.

But none of that really mattered at all.

She loved him.

She had made her choice.

But he didn't see how he could live without her.

Haruhi....
