The White Knight Mourning
(Missing Scene -
"Gillian")
++++++++++Present++++++++++
Hutch looked down on
Grossman. They finally caught him, but that didn't bring Gillian back. Hutch
turned away, no longer able to stand the sight of the man on the floor. He
leaned against the wall. His feelings for revenge had kept him going, but now
he felt drained. His legs gave out and he slid to the floor. His head rested
against the wall.
++++++++++Flashback++++++++++
Earlier today Hutch had
received a phone call from Huggy to meet Starsky at Gillian's place. That was
when he felt something was wrong. When he entered her apartment his mind
completely refused to
cooperate when he saw
Gillian's lifeless body lying on the floor.
He couldn't comprehend why
Gillian was dead and what his partner was doing there.
The words Starsky said to
him hadn't gotten through to him yet and his heart refused to accept the words
that were spoken to him. Denial was his first reaction. What was Starsky
saying?
Gillian wasn't a hooker. Not
his girlfriend, not Gillian. But in the back of his mind he heard a little
voice that kept saying.
You know he tells the
truth. Starsky wouldn't lie to you.
His heart had broken in a
thousand pieces. The turmoil going on inside of him made him feel so damned
helpless. He wanted to scream to Starsky that he was a liar. That he was jealous.
When the mixed emotions that were boiling underneath the surface suddenly
exploded, he hit his best friend.
It didn't make him feel any
better.
Gillian was dead.
Starsky held him while he
broke down.
+++++++Present+++++++++++++
Hutch had truly loved her.
Gillian was a lot like him. The two of them, a perfect match.
The white knight had finally
found his princess, But unlike other fairy-tales this one didn't have a happy
ending.
Hutch closed his eyes. He
tried to fight back the tears. He failed miserably. One tear slipped through
his eyelashes and more followed soon, leaving a wet trail on the pale skin of
his face.
He laid his head in his
hands.
Starsky looked at the
defeated figure sitting on the floor.
What could you do when your
best friend had just lost the love of his life?
It hurt Starsky to see Hutch
in so much pain, but he felt somewhat relieved to see him get it all out.
That's it, Hutch..Let it
out, buddy..Let it all out
Starsky walked towards his
friend.
Hutch felt a warm hand touch
his shoulder. When he looked up he noticed that Starsky had kneeled down in
front of him. Hutch didn't turn away when Starsky gently wiped away the tears
from his face.
"Are ya feeling better
now, Hutch?"
Hutch slowly nodded, then he
looked up at Starsky and took a deep shivering breath. "Yes, I think I
feel better now."
"Good, are you ready to
face Dobey?"
Hutch nodded again. He
reached out his hand to Starsky who pulled him up.
"Okay, then. Come on,
you big lummox," Starsky said affectionately. "Let's get outta
here."
