Natsu x Lucy side shot 1
"Natsu we tried yesterday. Give me a break please." Lucy begged from over his shoulder. He was eagerly making his way back to 'their' apartment with Lucy thrown over his shoulder.
"Come on Luce, it'll be fun." Natsu said with a smile as he opened the door. He planted a hand loudly on her butt with a giggle before he laid her on the bed.
Lucy quickly curled up into a ball. "Please, Natsu not today." She whined out.
Natsu's smile slowly faded. "Luce." He said softly as he laid down next to her. He placed a hand on her head and began to slowly stroke her hair. "You don't want to make a baby?"
"Natsu that's not it." she whined lifting her head to look into his uncharacteristic sad eyes. "I want to have a family with you Natsu. I really, really do. It's just, not like this."
"Luce, you weirdo." He gave her a half smile before pressing his forehead to hers. "You have to tell me what you mean." He pulled back. "I know you think I should understand. And I'm not that stupid. I know you are hinting at something. I just don't know what it is Luce."
"Lucy reached out a hand and stroked the side of his face till he looked at her again. "Natsu I love you."
"I love you to Luce." He said with his sad grin. "No matter what." He offered her.
Lucy in return gave him a very genuine smile. "Natsu you know what marriage is right?"
"yeah." He said quirking an eyebrow at her.
Lucy sighed and closed her eyes for a minute to muster up the courage to say what he needed to know, even though it would crush her small hope that one day he'd do it on his own. "Natsu I want that. Before we have kids. I need that to feel right about this." Her eyes glistened as the tears started to form. "I know you probably think it's stupid but…" Natsu cut her off with a kiss to the lips.
Once he pulled away he looked her square in the eyes, all seriousiness on his face. "Luce if that's what you wanted you should've said something you weirdo." He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her body against his.
"I wanted you to ask me." Lucy cried into his chest.
"Why? What does it matter if you tell me or if I ask you?" he asked his face scrunched up in confusion.
"Cause, that's how it's supposed to work. The guy job is to ask the girl to be his wife." She whined out.
"Luce, I didn't know that. No one ever told me that." Natsu said rubbing her back. He bit his lip in heavy concentrated thought. He wanted to make sure he got his point across exactly so she would understand. "I would've done things the right way for you if I had known." He paused as she shifted against him. "I still feel more dragon than human Luce. Dragons we, when we first mated, that to me was us being married." He paused again and pulled her up to look into his eyes. "I didn't know you needed more. I would've asked you right then if I knew you had need to hear those words."
"Natsu." Lucy started as tears fell down her cheeks. "I'm sorry, I just…"
He cut her off again with another kiss. "You don't have a thing to be sorry about Luce. I think I should be the one to be saying sorry to you." He wrapped an arm protectively around her shoulder as he tried to warm off her tears with his breath. "I love you Luce, we can go get hitched tomorrow, if it will put that wonderful smile back on your face that I love so much." He rubbed his nose softly against hers.
"You mean that?" Lucy asked.
"Yeah whatever it take to make my weirdo happy." He said with his goofy grin.
Lucy wrapped hr arms around him in a tight embrace burring her head in his neck. "Thank you Natsu." After a short pause she added. "But it takes more than a day to arrange a wedding."
He chuckled. "That's ok too. Whenever you want to. I'll be there, I promise you, Luce."
