Hey guys it's Kamree :) so this is the first story I've ever made, and I hope you'll like it! I don't own Riverdale, I only made this story.
A loud, awful scream woke up Toni in the middle of the night.
"TONI!"
She quickly got up, her heart racing and confirmed what she feared when she saw Cheryl by her side, stirring in her nightmares covered in cold sweat and a grimace of deep suffering her face.
Toni rushed to calm her down, trying to get her out the pit of pain she's facing.
"Cheryl! C'mon, wake up! It's just a nightmare!"
"No…No…No!" Cheryl whispered, wincing as if she was protecting herself from someone. "Stop it! Please, stop it!"
Toni hated those nightmares. She never want to see the love of her life suffering in pain. She didn't want to see her crying in absolute horror and panic.
"Toni! Help me, Toni!" that cry brought her back to reality. When she looked at Cheryl again, she felt her heart burn with pain when she saw the tears falling in her close eyes. "Toni!"
She couldn't take it anymore, so she fell on her. She wrapped her arms around her and tried to hold her to make her stop stirring.
"Cheryl, I'm here…" , she whispered in her ear, trying to wake her up. " Don't worry, I'm here with you. Wake up…"
It took a while for her react, but as seconds go by, Cheryl slowly opened her eyes. Toni pulled away a bit from her, and she wished she hadn't: as always, her eyes were filled with tears full of absolute horror and pain. Her heart was pounding wildly, she was breathing like a fish out of water and she was drenched in sweat.
"…Toni?" Cheryl muttered, her voice broken and strangled, when her eyes managed to focus on her.
She let out a relieved sigh and tightly embraced the girl, cursing herself to not letting Cheryl suffer such pain.
"It's me, Cheryl. I'm right here with you. I'm always by your side, okay?" Toni murmured soothingly, still trying to calm her down. "It was nothing but a nightmare."
Cheryl clung to her desperately, shaking like a leaf, unable to hold back her tears. Toni felt her heart break into a million pieces when she felt the girl's body shake in pain with each sob, clinging to her as if she was to disappear at any moment. She stroked her red hair softly, cradling her in her arms.
How brutal must the suffering have been for Cheryl. She did grow up rich, but no one really loved her. When Jason and Cheryl were kids, Jason would always invite her to combine their birthday parties together because after a few years she realized that no one wanted to come to hers. Jason was her partner in crime, since their parents doesn't really love them either. Her father killed her twin brother, and all she had was her nana and her awful mother, Penelope, who is more of a monster to her than a mother. She never felt loved so much before. She often dreamt of Penelope taking her away from Toni and torture her. However losing Toni was her biggest fear.
"Toni", Cheryl managed to say after a while, between her sobs. Toni's heart cracked more every time she heard her voice. "Please don't leave me… don't leave me alone."
"I will never leave you, okay? I"ll always be here for you." , she whispered in her ear, hugging her as tears started to fall down from her eyes as well.
Cheryl's breathing calmed and her tears slowly dried upon hearing her words. She still clung to her so much, but she no longer trembled so much. "I love you."
"I love you too." Toni replied as she kissed her forehead.
