Title: A Fez's Tale

Disclaimer: The BBC has turned down my offer of $20 and the contents of my pockets so Doctor Who still belongs to them.

AN: Wow, the season six premiere was great. Good thing I "borrowed" my friends vortex manipulator so I could go see it. Anyway here's a short story for the rest of you who have to wait.

"There once was a hat named Billy. But he wasn't any ordinary hat, no, Billy was a magnificent red fez who had dreams of fun and adventure. Unfortunately Billy belonged to a stubborn old man who kept him locked in his closet. One day Billy was taken away from the old man and giving to a thrift shop where he was purchased to be used as part of an display in a museum. Billy was glad to be out of that musty old closet but found that his new life did nothing to sate his thirst for adventure. He lived in the museum for a very, very long time until one day he was picked up by a wonderful new man. Almost immediately Billy was taken on a trip back in time and he was so very happy because he had finally found someone to make his dreams of adventures come true. But then Billy was taken away from the wonderful new man by a mean sneaky witch who threw him into the air and blasted him to millions of tiny pieces. The wonderful man was so sad that he had lost his new friend" the Doctor told the story in a hushed tone as he sat next to the bed.

He looked down at the sleeping ginger girl and said, "Now the moral of this story little Amelia is to never, ever let a sneaky witch hurt a defenseless fez." He smiled confidently as he got up and quietly exited the bedroom.

When the Doctor entered the TARDIS he climbed the stairs up to the console as Rory entered from the main corridor.

"Did we stop?" Rory asked while yawning when he saw the Doctor.

"Oh, Rory! Didn't mean to wake you two up, just had to stop for a bit to fuel up," the Doctor said as he pulled a lever, "there that should do it."

"Oh, okay. Guess I'll just head back to bed then," Rory told him as he turned and left.

The Doctor watched Rory go until he was out of sight and then reached for the top of his head. He frowned when he found nothing there and started searching for where he would place a hat. He searched the room for a few minutes before giving up.

"Could have worked," he muttered to himself as he went to the controls and set a new course.

Well hope it got a laugh. Please review.
