It was never like it seems to be
Hinata
When it comes to Hinata, it's never like it seems to be. Sure, she is a little naive and a kind heart but she was not as dumb as people may think. She is aware of the reason why her father is so hard on her. Clearly, he had been wounded by her mother's death and couldn't overcome the commotion. Hinata was so much like her, by shape and character. Hinata could easily understand her father couldn't stand to see her because it reminded him the grief of loosing the love of his life. Every time she was around him, she only could see pain and sadness into his eyes. At first, it was hurting her … as a child, she always wanted her father approval and love but as time fled, she learns to live with it.
He was a man of power who couldn't afford to look weak. He did his best to rise her and prepare her to her role as an heiress. Actually, he did a pretty good job on that part.
People could have think that it was not necessary to be that hard on her regarding Hinata was an sweet child, not to say an easy one but life as a shinobi is not about pink and butterflies. This kind of life end up breaking you, both bodily and mentally. You have to cope with being constantly threaten and attacking with intent of killing. When you are the heiress of a famous shinobi clan like Hinata you also have to be aware of political matters et internal betrayal.
Nevertheless, Hinata loves her father dearly and she knows he loves her too. And really, it's all that matter in the end.
