Deja Vu
by Katie.
Pairing: None, really. But Troyella is insinuated.
Rating: K+
A/N: Fluffy. Like, could be considered pointless.
It was almost like deja vu. An overwhelming sense that this had happened before. But it hadn't. She KNEW it hadn't. But every moment...every second was like it had already happened somewhere along the line.
Between the constant moving and shyness, Gabriella Montez had never been able to overcome major social barriers. Except once. In 2nd grade, she had a best friend. His name escaped Gabriella. She thought it started with a T...Tim? Tuck? Tyler? God, what was his name? It was very familiar, and she knew that it was the reason for the constant sense of familiarity she got when she was around Troy.
Troy had told Gabriella that he had moved to Albuquerque when he was in the 1st grade. Or so. Gabriella smiled, and listened when he told her about all the friends he'd had at the school he'd gone to in Missouri, where his family had lived at the time. Gabriella had lived in Missouri. She couldn't remember when. She really had a bad memory when it came to everywhere she'd moved.
In the 5th grade, Gabriella knew that she'd stayed at one school long enough to be cast a major part in the school play. It was a musical, and Gabriella had loved it. That is, until her mother announced they were leaving. The day before the musical. She'd had to drop out, and to this day it made her feel sad when she thought about it.
In the 7th grade, in an attempt to make friends, Gabriella had joined the school's academic team. She was the star member. Her dad, unfortunately, decided to drop in on one of their competitions and caused quite a scene afterwards. He took the kids out to eat at a "fish-fry". The fish were drastically undercooked, causing the entire team to get sick, and Gabriella was promptly eliminated from the team.
The last town they'd moved to before they'd ended up in Albuquerque was somewhere in North Carolina. She was taking a semester of Home Economics. When Gabriella's mother's company finally moved them to Albuquerque, they were learning how to make the perfect cookie.
And that was when Gabriella realized that East was all of her past schools. Her 2nd grade best friend had been named Troy. She had been able to be in a musical last year with Troy. Gabriella had become the star member of the Scholastic Decathlon team. And she loved Zeke's homemade cookie. It wasn't deja vu. It was happy memories.
