"Sombra!" Luna's voice resounded in the Crystal Palace Catacombs. In front of her was a long tunnel, barely lit by three small candles on the walls. The surface was all black crystal, with small hints of green and purple. She had never been down here before, but she knew where her old friend would be hiding.

"Princess Luna, what an honour." A lone deep voice echoed through the chamber, so familiar, haunting and disarming.

"Show yourself," Luna narrowed her eyes and a dim blue aura blossomed from her horn, in the hopes to find the source.

The princess felt it at her hind hooves first. The swirling tendrils of shadow sent shivers up her body as they delicately played with every notch of her spine and coiled her legs in their dark dance; she felt like she was under a spell. Luna took a deep breath and closed her eyes as a shadow seemed to delicately touch her neck so softly, she believed it to almost be kissing her; it then tightened it's grip around her neck. Luna's eyes snapped open and she swatted away the shadows from her body, they all pooled to the floor and retreated to a short distance in front of her, where they collected into a pony figure. His half-smile was dangerously enchanting and his flaming green and red eyes seemed to consume anything that stared deep enough into them. But not the princess, not anymore.

"You are in no position to play around, Sombra." Luna stomped her hoof, which made a resounding boom and cracked the crystal ground. Sombra only chuckled.

"How you've changed over the past month," He smiled "You are becoming more like your sister. When we were alone before-"

"There is no before with you. The Sombra I knew-"

"The Sombra you knew was weak!" The dark pony growled, "Without a scrap or power or magic to his name. He is reborn into something better." At that moment the red tip of his newly grown horn glowed like a star. It made Luna sick.

"I loved you." The princess confessed, with only anger in her eyes. The silence the heart-wrenching. "The pony that loved the night. The pony that stayed up late in the library with me. The only pony that understood me. The pony that I thought loved me too." Luna paused to regain a shaky breath. "But all of that has changed. Now I see a monster, and a coward. A heartless dictator to an innocent Empire."

There was a brief quiet before Sombra let out another chuckle, unfazed by the confession.

"So now you are here to end me. Is that it, Luna?"

"No." The mare shook her head. "I wanted to give a warning. The next day that you see me will be your last. My sister and I will defeat you, and I will personally destroy you." Another echoing silence and Sombra seemed thoughtful for a moment.

"It's a pity that I too loved a coward, who can't do her own work." Sombra cleared his throat, "Very well then, I shall prepare for my 'final' day." He said and bowed to her, a mocking grin playing on his face, "Goodbye Princess."

"Goodbye Sombra," Luna said, turned and made her way out of the Catacombs, with Sombra gazing at her as she left.
