Sorry I haven't been uploading anything lately. A fair warning I haven't read many of the Dark Hunter series so if anything canon disputes my story... well it is just a story...
Risus had never been allowed to barter for anything in her life; Jaden was considered by all to be unfair and demanding, sadistic and tricky, but if she didn't barter with him her beloved baby sister could be gone forever. She slit her wrist and said the phrase that would bring him to her. At first she didn't think it worked, or that she did something wrong; then he jumped out of the tree, startling her. Her wings clutched to her body as an automatic response; she soon composed herself.
"I am here to barter for my younger sister's return."
"She sold her soul to me. I don't see what I can do."
"Please, she didn't know what she was doing!"
"She didn't?"
"She wanted to 'save' her lover from being sent away to marry someone else. She wouldn't have sold her soul. She wanted to be with him. I am willing to barter with you for her soul. Just name your price."
Jaden didn't think that she would go very far to help her sister. He tried to think of a wager that no one would ever accept. Then it hit him; every demon, including her, was terrified of him.
"Well, I know of nothing I neither need… nor want…" Tears were welling in her eyes and it made him laugh on the inside, "However, I'm sure if you pledge your eternal allegiance and servitude I could find a use for you."
She froze inside; give to him her freedom and give up everything she had, or never see your sister alive again. There wasn't much of choice, but she had come here for a reason and she would not give up.
"There is nothing else I can give to you?"
"Afraid not."
"Then… I accept." Her words did shock him. Most demons wouldn't make such a sacrifice, especially, demons that betrayed them, and were having their souls ripped out of their bodies. Then again, she could only be after the destruction of her sister but need the girl's soul to do so. It wasn't his business.
He snapped his fingers and the deal was made. Before Risus could say anything she was in a small dark room, made of stone. She was terrified, and lonely. He didn't even let her say goodbye to her family.
