Jonas woke up on something soft and comfortable. He opened his eyes to see a girl with curly brown hair in his face. "Mom! Mom the boy is up!" she yelled.
"Leah! Don't yell in the house, sweetie," Somebody said walking over to where Jonas lay. The voice belonged to a brown haired woman who was tall. "Oh, he is up," She said. Jonas sat up. "What is your name?" She asked. Jonas looked at the lady whose face was about two feet away from his.
"My name is Jonas," He replied, looking around for Gabriel. "Where's the little boy who was with me?" He asked, getting a little bit panicked.
"My daughter, Cass, is taking care of him in her room," The lady smiled at him. Cass? Cass wasn't on the list of names. Than a fact hit him. Was he in the same place as he left? Was he Elsewhere?
"Where am I?" Jonas asked.
"You are in Washington. Can you remember where you were before?" She asked him. He nodded.
"I was in a place where everything was the same. Nobody but me, Gabriel, and Giver could see colours. Everything was the same," Jonas explained. Than he heard crying.
"Jonnnaass! Jonnnaass!" It cried. "I want Jonnnaass!" Than he heard footsteps and a girl, who looked about his age rounded the courner with Gabe crying as she held him on her hip.
"Uhh… Mom, who's Jonas?" She asked, than she looked at Jonas and rolled her eyes, "Are you Jonas?" She asked. He nodded than stood up, a bit wobbly, and walked over to the crying toddler.
"Jonnnaass!" Gabe yelled reaching out toward Jonas. The girl who was holding him passed the boy over to Jonas and Gabe's crying calmed a bit and was now a little bit of a whimper.
"I'm Cass," The girl said smiling at him. Than a girl who looked exactly like the other came around the corner holding the hand of a baby who was probably a little younger than Gabe. Four kids? Jonas thought, this family unit is going to get in trouble! Than Jonas remembered he was elsewhere. The other girl smiled at him.
"Hey, I'm Bloom," She said to him. The two girls' shiny black hair was identical. The only difference was that Cass has forest green eyes, and Bloom has ocean blue eyes.
"You're twins," Jonas said. "Neither of you have gotten…" He trailed off, not wanting to use the dreaded word, "released?" he asked.
"Released?" Bloom said. "Like, from Jail?" she asked.
"Jail?" Jonas asked. "What's that?"
"It's where you go if you break a law," Bloom said smiling.
"Oh, okay," Jonas said.
"Are you hungry?" The lady asked. Jonas nodded.
"Food," Gabe said.
"You can has food," The little girl, who was holding Chance's hand said.
"Alanni, it's you can have food," Leah said to the younger girl. Alanni huffed and scowled at the five year old who corrected her.
