If you would let me tell you
I'd say so many things.
Like how your beauty leaves me breathless
And your spirit gives me wings.
I'd tell you that I need you
More now than yesterday.
Without you I am nothing -
Your strength shows me the way.
I'd tell you that I'd never leave -
To you I must be near.
But you're the one who walks away
If you'd look back, you'd see I'm here.
I'd tell you that our friendship
Makes me like who I am.
That I could live with what I've done
If you would take my hand.
I'd tell you that I wake at night
And think you're next to me.
And for one brief moment
My dream feels like reality.
I'd tell you that I understand -
You want us to be apart.
But I can also see a sign
You long to give me your heart.
I'd whisper 'I'll love you endlessly'
Until you knew it to be true.
That's what I would say -
If you would let me tell you.
