Hinata was watching Naruto train from behind the trees, he trained so hard everyday to bring Sasuke back. Hinata saw his determination and wished she was like him so she would have the courage and determination to tell him that she loved him. Hinata watched him like she had watched him for the past ten years of her life. He never noticed her watching from behind the shadows, he was always too intent on his training.

She realized that she would never be happy. She had always avoided questions of why she did marry and settle down even though the blue haired heiress had many suitors. She knew that he would never come for her as he had his eyes on the pink haired beauty, Sakura; she also knew that she could not live her life waiting for someone that would never come for her. But there was no one like her Naruto-kun. But there was someone…

Another man who's childhood had been as sad as Naruto's, a childhood full of malice and fear. Gaara of the Desert… She remembered him at the Chunin exams, she saw his power but she also saw his loneliness. Now she wanted to comfort him just as she wished to comfort Naruto, but she knew that Sakura would do that for Naruto and make him happy. Something that Hinata knew she would never be able to do.

Three months, three months of negotiations, of arguments and of a new confidence in Hinata Hyuuga. For the first time in her life she was doing was she wanted to do which was to wed Gaara of the desert, she wanted to change herself but mostly to care and comfort for him. He soon fell in love with the paled eye heiress, he saw her shyness, her determination and her honesty with him. Never before had someone been so open to him and never before had there been someone he poured his heart out to.

In the fourth month they wed, though many thought it was just a political marriage, a scheme to bring the Byakugan to Sunagakure, though the couple knew that it was more then that. They cared deeply for each other, though Hinata Hyuuga was happy, she still knew that no-one could ever replace her Naruto.

Naruto was training, but something was different, the presence of someone that cared for him, that someone was watching him was gone. He sighed, he felt something was missing, but he did not know what and he never would because Hinata Hyuuga, the only person that might have understood and loved him, was far away from him...
