A/N: This is a drabble starring the pairings of: Shinichi x Ran, Heiji x Kazuha and Kaito x Aoko. There are more to love tests than meets the eye as the boys are about to find out... As usual, the characters of Detective Conan do not belong to me but to their esteemed creator. ENJOY!

Test

It was all the rage now. Every bookstore had it. Every magazine stand promoted it. And, every teenage girl displayed it proudly on their bookshelves. It had a glossy cover with the letters 'DYK' scrawled over it in bold crimson strokes. It was the latest book on psychological character tests on love and romance, and everyone had been sucked into it, especially girls of all ages.

Mouri Ran, Touyama Kazuha and Nakamori Aoko were no different.

So, it wasn't all that surprising when their respective male counterparts stumbled on to it.

In Tokyo, Edogawa Conan's eyes were fixed on the book lying opened on the kitchen table, a pen book-marking its pages. His curiosity was piqued. Stealing sly glances around, making sure that he was indeed alone, he sat to explore his new case study.

In Osaka, Hattori Heiji was hard-pressed in keeping his concentration on his kendo practice when the bright glossy yellow blob taunted him from the corner of his eye. He faltered in his strokes, and eventually came to a halt. His curiosity was piqued. Looking around covertly, checking to ensure that he was indeed alone in the hall, he snatched the book up and began digging in.

Back in Tokyo, Kuroba Kaito didn't have such reserves. He had been waiting for Aoko's attention to turn away to some other distraction before he had swiped the book. Now, he flicked through it silently behind the cover of his daily newspaper, ever watchful of the chattering girl, who was oblivious to the apparent disappearance of her precious book.

All three boys browsed swiftly, growing more and more disgusted by its mushy lovey-dovey contents. Until, a single question caught their attentions.

Conan blushed, his cheeks stained in high colour. Immediately, an image popped into his mind, an image of familiar blue eyes and long, luscious brown hair, of slender legs that could deliver death in a swift elegant kick. His answer to the question: Mouri Ran.

Heiji's entire being trembled as a shiver ran down his spine, his cheeks heating up. Images flashed through his mind, of a certain first love that he treasured, whose words always blew him away. His answer to the question: Touyama Kazuha.

Kaito sputtered, the book disappearing from his hands back into Aoko's bag as she glanced at him weirdly, clearly wondering at his reaction. His answering smile was sheepish but the foreign look in his eyes didn't fade. His answer to the question: fish.

And, the question…

…it was a surprisingly common one.

'What do you fear the most?'
