Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Ben's Note of Sheer Awesome: I said I would stick to cartoon ships mostly, but I knew this one was going to show up eventually. I might be taking a small break from the one-shot scene. I love doing it, but TDASB seems a little unloved right now.
This one is 11th Doctor/Clara. I much rather not taint the friendship they had with romance, but whatevs. This takes place right before the regeneration. Trust me, makes sense when you read.
Oh, right, number. The guys who requests these random ones keeps giving me random numbers. This number is number 740: Deep In Thought. Yeah, so many great ships that could have been written and it's this one. Yay.
Clara was nervous. And thinking deeply. And not really at all very happy.
The Doctor had yet again saved the day. However, to save the day, he had been given regeneration energy. He was changing right now. And she… she had to tell him what she thought of him. It was a deep thought she was thinking about it for the longest time.
She loved him.
Clara had entered the T.A.R.D.I.S. and looked around, breathing heavily. She was afraid of what she would see. She could think hard about what could possibly be, but she didn't like what she created. As she heard footsteps getting closer, she had deeper and creepier thoughts about him.
The Doctor reached the top step.
He was still Clara's Doctor.
"You didn't change," she said in relief.
"Well… not yet," the Doctor said as he hobbled over to the controls. "Temporary reset. I have some… things I have to say before… the new guy comes."
Clara looked at the Doctor, slightly sobbing. "Doctor, I know you don't have a lot of time left," Clara said, "but I need to tell you some things too."
"Well, by all means, go first. Not like you've been alive for over a thousand years," the Doctor grumbled.
"Right well… Over the long time I've known you… Doctor, I've been thinking… really thinking… and I think… I love you," Clara said.
"Oh. Well then," the Doctor said, shuffling a bit. "That saved what I was going to say."
Clara was speechless. "Wait…"
"Yes, I love a human. Don't judge me!" the Doctor said. Clara gasped, looking at her best friend, who groaned in pain. "Yeah, and I'm dying. Yay me! You know, I was going to do this whole massively tear inducing speech, but I think I'll just stick with… dying."
The Doctor groaned in pain again. Clara, not knowing what to do about her friend, quickly rushed over to him and kissed him. While she kissed him, she thought deeply about how much she loved him. How much she cared. Everything that made the Doctor who he was and why he mattered to her.
Suddenly, there was a bright flash of yellow, sending Clara flying backwards. Clara looked up, expecting to see someone knew, someone who wasn't her's.
Her Doctor hadn't changed.
"Wha…" Clara asked.
The Doctor looked equally confused. "But… I died," he said. Then he looked at Clara. "You were thinking of me, weren't you? Deeply. So deep that you did…"
"That," Clara whispered.
Thinking about who you love is normal. But truly thinking about who you love, deeply and affectionately, can truly work wonders. Even saving their life.
BN: Yeah, my brain is done. One more one-shot, then I'm taking a little break. Feel free to send in more requests… just please try to make it a cartoon. Those feel more fun to me.
Like? Hate? Meh? Tell me about it in a review!
