I decided to write a little story. It's a comeback after...many years. I believe it's been five years? Anyway, this is a little story I thought of. Enjoy reading :).

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon! Only my imagination :)!

May was walking as softly as she could so the dorm manager wouldn't hear her. It was an hour past curfew and she really didn't want to be caught. The punishment was "not being allowed to attend coordinating class for a week". If it was any other punishment, May wouldn't have cared as much. But no coordinating? Not going to happen. If she missed out on multiple classes, Drew wouldn't let her hear the end of it. He would tease her that she should have learned this and that during classes last week, he would taunt her about not being able to get back to her room without being seen and probably make all sorts of other arrogant remarks.

This was her fault though, she asked for a rematch after Drew defeated her in a practice contest battle. Each Sunday the two of them meet up to practice anything related to coordinating, from performances to battling to training with their pokémon. Today's session had started later than usual and May's decision didn't account for that. Now she's snooping around, trying to get to her room unseen.

"It's so unfair.. Drew doesn't have to walk as far. He's probably already inside, safe from his dorm manager," she whispered to herself. She did think that, but she left with a satisfied feeling. May had managed to defeat Drew in the rematch. Then again, Beautifly did have more experience than any of her other Pokémon. It was a close call against his Masquerain. Using Blaziken would have given her a lot more advantage. However, she wanted to show Drew that she was capable of winning without her method of sheer power battling.

Lost in her thought, she failed to notice the lights turn on in the dorm manager's room. It was really too bad that May's room was on the same floor. The door opened and May hid behind a wide supporting column in the hallway. "You're out of luck May, I saw you running outside, I know you're there," she heard the dorm manager, Jessie, speak. Still, she didn't move. "I'm going to stand here all night and you'll probably freeze if you stand there behind that column all those hours," Jessie said. May looked up to see a camera installed in the corner of the column and ceiling. She sighed. Jessie was into punishing her students. "I think she lives for torturing us," the brunette angrily thought to herself. "Fine," she snapped and came out of her not so brilliant hiding place.

"And exactly what were you doing out at this hour?" Jessie demanded an answer. "I was practicing with my pokémon," May lied. If she would tell her she was with Drew, her punishment would surely double or even triple. The dorm manager hated males more than diligent and honest students who never do anything to liven up her job. "Well, you earned yourself a week without coordinating class, " Jessie scribbled it on a post-it and stuck it on the wall next to her door inside her room, "good night," she finished and slammed her door shut.

May stuck her tongue out at Jessie's door and went to her room at the end of the hallway. She was upset. "What kind of person installs a camera there and stays up this late just to catch someone," she wondered aloud, frustration clear in her voice.

She pictured Drew's arrogant smirk. He would tease her, she was hundred percent sure.

May fell asleep, dreading the next morning.

The only good thing about receiving the punishment was that she could sleep in on Monday. She checked her phone, 10:30 AM. Coordinating class started 30 minutes ago. May readied herself for her afternoon classes. When she was eating her breakfast, her phone buzzed, signaling she had a message. Picking up her phone with her free hand - the other holding a sandwich - she read it:

Why aren't you in class?

May looked outside her window. Today's class was held outside and she saw her classmates there listening to the teacher. She sighed. Perfect weather, perfect practice experience and she wasn't there. Their teacher had said this week would be important too. Drew's coordinating class would be after this, however she knew he could see their class from where attended the evolution class. Still upset, she texted him back:

I was caught by doom. You must be happy. You get to attend class this week.

May's phone rang almost immediately afterwards. She frowned upon seeing Drew's name.

"Are you going to delight me with your wisdom first thing in the morning?" She answered

"Good morning to you too May. Really a shame that you couldn't outsmart the dorm manager," she heard him reply.

"Must be nice, not to have a terror one in your building," she spitefully responded.

"Yep, Brock's kindness times ten," he chuckled.

"Why are you calling me? Aren't you in class?" May suddenly wondered.

"Nope, Evolution this Monday would have been at 03:00 PM. However, the teachers have their montly meeting this afternoon. There are no classes after noon. Don't tell me you forgot, airhead?" He teased.

Pretending she didn't she answered, "so then why are you calling?"

"Open up," he said and hung up.

May was annoyed at the way he abruptly broke off their conversation and opened the door, "you could have said you were coming over, what if Jessie saw you?" Drew ignored her, "don't get worked up over nothing, at least I would not have failed to return to my room, getting caught is not my style," he told her as he flipped his hair. She puffed out air, irritation getting the better of her. "Tell me why you came here or leave," May replied.

Drew knew May was in a really bad mood. She had really been looking forward to classes this week. Top Coordinator Abby - now a pokémon doctor - would be a guest in classes on Friday and she had to miss out. Partially his fault, since he didn't remind her of curfew. "Someone's fuse has been lit huh, I only came to apologize for not reminding you of curfew yesterday," he shrugged, both hands up, as he nonchalantly spoke. "Are you mocking me? The great Drew really came to say sorry? Aren't you just rubbing it in my face that I cannot meet Abby this week?" May crossed her arms, looking away.

"No," suddenly serious, he approached her with a determined look, "I really am sorry," he presented her a rose. She watched him, searching for any signs of arrogance, but didn't find it. Accepting the rose, she put it in the vase with the others. She made a mental note that this was number three in three months. Was it becoming something regular? "Thank you," she said.

Drew was relieved. He smiled when she couldn't see it. Even he would apologize when wrong. He had debated a little within himself whether to do so or not. But it had been bugging him. And he did not want May to burst out in tears or have her shut him out of her life. Maybe that was a bit dramatic, but May wasn't the most emotionally stable person. He would never tell her that though. She would be permanently angry with him. Which would eventually cause him to get annoyed at her for being so mad. An endless cycle he would rather prevent. He liked her bubbly and happy character the most, but he loved her for who she was anyway. Angry or not. It was fun being with her.

At that moment, May was thinking how Drew actually was a very nice person. She was always angry, irritated or upset whenever he said something. However, the truth is, she enjoys their bickering a little. He teases her, but she likes the attention he gives her. Actually, he's always considerate, always knows what to say and she secretely feels bad that he has to put up with everything she throws at him.

"Drew, is it hard to be with someone like me?" She asked him. He's surprised by her question, not expecting it at all. "You're fine, May. Don't be bothered by it, it's fine. I mean, you can handle the great me right? It would be ridiculous if I failed to stay by your side," he assured her.

May saw a slight blush on his face as the meaning of his words dawned on him. He quickly avoided her gaze and said, "let's go out today, I know someone who is friends with Dr. Abby. I made an appointment with her today. I take it you want to meet her?" It was a blatant rethorical question. Her answer was written on her face. Filled with excitement and gratitude, she hugged him, "thanks Drew." He returned the hug, wrapping his arms tightly around her, effectively getting rid of her worries from before.

"Wait", May spoke, face still on his chest, "don't you have coordinating class now?" She glanced at the clock on her desk, it read 11:00 AM, his class would begin. Then the realization came, "you were caught! That's why you arranged a meeting with Dr. Abby!" She looked up at him, mischievous grin on her face. "I would not have failed, getting caught is not my style", she imitated him. She would have liked to see him try getting past Jessie, if he couldn't make it past "Brock's ten times kindness". May was laughing hard and Drew's blush got fiercer. Embarassed as he was, he did not let go of May.

May finally stopped laughing, only occasionally giggling because of the situation and hugged him once more. "Thanks Drew, you're the best. I'd love to go with you," she said as she grabbed her bag and pokéballs.

They walked out the door, ready for a wonderful afternoon together.

This story was previously a prologue to a multi-chaptered story. I changed it to fit the title. I'm more satisfied with how this one turned out. For those who don't know yet. There are three parties on FFNET for Pokémon. The buggers, the defenders and the writers. Buggers write extensive negative reviews, defenders tell everyone repeatedly to block them, writers suffer from it. Ignore the buggers and let me know what you think of the story itself. I appreciate any thoughts :). Until next time :)!
