Chapter 1 What do you see?
Sounds of crows were heard in the snow-covered forest. Three men were talking and looking at the forest for something. They stopped and looked at a horrendous scene of bodies in an armor-shaped format. The scene changes and the bodies are gone. Screams of horror are heard. Blue eyes made of ice.
Anna wakes up with the nurse opening the window of her room. She talks to the girl, but she's thinking away. She was thinking about what she had just dreamed about. Snow and ice is all that goes with it these days, but the girl does not care about it, since according to Master Luwin, they are nothing but superstitions.
The girl dressed in her borrowed clothes from Bran, since they are almost the same size, and went downstairs to have coffee with the family. His mother saw him, then released a complaint, asking the girl to change clothes, but Anna did not. An argument was about to begin, but Ned as a good reliever prevented the morning from starting with the mother-daughter quarrel.
With the finished coffee, each of the children of Ned and Catelyn Stark, went to their business. As usual, the two older men in the family were going to teach Bran how to use a bow and arrow to the sadness of Arya and Anna. Of the three female daughters, the two youngest ones are the ones who disagree, of the beautiful and pampered Sansa. Arya and Anna were the cause of headache for Catelyn, who was always seeking the two of horseback or fighting with the fencers. And today would be no different, Arya would distract the mistress and Anna will flee to hit an arrow on the target.
As expected, Bran was failing and so taking advantage of the breach, the girl steadied the arrow in the bow and released it, flying directly on the target. All of them were suppressed with Anna's arrow, all but Bran who ran after his sister for taking his chance at being the best archer. When Bran caught up with her, they fell to the floor, the boy tickling the twin sister's belly, which was bursting with laughter.
"Stop, Bran! I can not breathe! "Shouted the girl through the laughter.
"Little lord, your father requires you in the party that goes to the judgment of the Night Watchs deserter," says Sir Cassel Cassel to the twins who rose from the ground.
"Do not worry, Bran. I'll be by your side all the time, "says his sister trying to calm the boy who was visibly tense.
"Actually, Lady Anna, he will go alone," says Rodrik already predicting the protest of the girl.
"What?! But this can not be! Bran and I never separated, and I have to be there to give him strength. Sir Rodrik, is this just because I'm a woman? "Complained the girl.
"It's one of the reasons, the other is that you're a child. You can not see that sort of thing, and he's old enough, "Sir Rodrik explained.
"We're the same age! This makes no sense!"
At that moment, Ned Stark appears behind Rodrik, gazing at his daughter gently.
"It's because one day he'll become a lord. He needs learning. "He responded by stroking Anna's hair.
"Anna, I'll be back soon. It's going to be all right. "And the twin brothers hugged each other. Anna looked at the figure of the three men moving away. But if they think the girl will be left behind, they are mistaken.
Anna hoped there was no one in the stable, where the girl climbed on the horse, after she had saddled herself, learning acquired seeing her brothers doing, ready to follow the group. It was not long before the horse reached them. The noise of their hooves eventually alerted them to her arrival. Upon seeing his youngest daughter, Ned became very angry.
"Lyanna, what are you doing here? I did not tell you to stay home! "
"You said my father, but you know how I am, impulsive and very curious. Dad, I can get through this. I'm strong and the best, I'll be at Bran's side. "The twins exchanged glances. "So, may I go?"
"And I have another alternative?" Ned asked.
The happy girl came to accompany them. During the ride the twins exchanged complacent smiles, everyone who knew them knew that they could not be separated. Where one went, the other accompanied. So they came to a hill, where two people held a person by the arms and in the middle of the place was a sort of 'table' where the punishments were done, that is, beheading.
They all got down from their horses and brought the deserter to the table. The tension was great between the twins, since the rest of the men had already seen this action. They, Bran and Anna, could feel the presence of Jon and Robb, behind them assuring support. His father, Ned, was already drawing his sword from its scabbard. By looking closely, the girl can recognize the man as the dream she had during these weeks and especially last night. The girl finally grabbed Bran's hand, which, realizing that she was cold and trembling, turned to her.
"What's it? Your hand is shaking and you look paler than normal. "
"Bran, maybe ..." and Anna turned her gaze to him. Bran could see behind his sister's eyes that she was about to decide something. And in the end she finally let go of his hand. "It was nothing." She looked back at the scene in front of her. And the more the man spoke, the more Anna came to think that her dream might have been a vision. Ned ended up speaking the words of the execution and so ended it so that the twins held their breath.
"You did well." Jon said. But these words ended up having no effect on either. Anna only looked away from the decapitated body when her father came near the twins. "You understand why I did it?"
"Jon said he was a deserter." answered Bran.
Ned realizes that the younger daughter is thinking far away. "But do you understand why I had to kill him, both of you?" he asked again and this time turning his gaze to Anna. "Our way is the old way?" asked Bran "The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword."
And at that moment Anna turned to her father ."Is it true he saw the White Walkers?" Bran was also curious about the subject, waited for the answer. "The White Walkers have been gone for thousands of years." Not content with the answer, Anna insists once more. "But why would he lie? Why can he not be wrong? You saw the way he spoked." "A madman sees what he sees." And with the final word, Ned retreats to his horse. And Anna had her mind full of questions, and she hated being left unanswered.
On the way back home, Bran noticing his sister's distant gaze, suggests a horse race. The two of them were already doing this, on the outskirts of Winterfell, causing their mother to flinch in concern.
"You'll be sorry for suggesting that." Threatens Anna, joking. As soon as the two accelerated the horses, Robb and Ned warned not to run too fast. Jon was already looking at them with joy in his eyes. These two were the ones who had the freest spirits, among the Stark children, including himself. But Anna's horse stopped abruptly, causing her to fall. At that moment Bran screams and gets off his horse, going towards his sister.
"I'm fine, Bran. I just have body aches, "Anna said, getting up off the floor. "And maybe, I just have a twisted wrist," she said after feeling a pain in her right arm, forcing it to the ground. Until that moment all the men got down from their horses, going towards the twins.
"What happened?" Ned asked.
"I do not know. Alan just stopped abruptly. "Anna explained.
"I think I know why." Sir Rodrik replied.
And the image in front of the horse was a deer's head, his body torn apart.
"What is it?" Jon asked
"A mountain lion?" Theon said
"There are no mountain lions in these woods." Aswered Ned
And so begins a search for what attacked the deer and eventually found a dead direwolf with antlers through her throat. Her pups whimpering around her. Anna was soon to meet two of them, picking up each hand.
"It's a freak!" exclaimed Theon
"It's a direwolf." Ned and Rodrik look at each other.
"There are no direwolfs South of the Wall." Reasoned Robb
"Now there are six" indicated Jon.
"Let's keep them, dad. They are so cute and alone." Anna asked, with a nod of Bran's agreement.
But Rodrik made a point not to take them home with them. At Ned's word, Theon took one of Bran's offspring, getting the screams from the twins.
"Put away your blade." spoked Robb
"I take orders from your father, not you."answered Theon.
"Please, father!" begged Bran. And with a plausible explanation of Jon, the puppies were accepted by Ned. They were already leaving until they heard another cry of a dog, finding another direwolf hidden.
"The runt of the litter. That one's yours, Snow." Mocked Theon.
"Watch your tongue, Theon, he is a brother and deserves to be respected." reproved Anna, but Theon continued to laugh in mockery. "Don't care about him, cause for me Jon, you are my brother, no matter what." And smiling between each other, the Starks came back home, where waiting for them was Lady Stark, with looks of angry, but especially worry. Everybody knew the reason why, Catelyn found out about the little escape of the youngest of the Stark girls and she was waiting for her return, in one piece. But everything was forgotten, cause of the pups, that in Catelyn's mind was not a great idea for her children to have them, but she had to tolerate cause every one, even Sansa was in love with them.
Anna went after Master Luwin, for a repair in her right wrist. She had it bandaged for a few weeks. And in the middle of this, she didn't forget about the man talking about the White Walkers. In her mind she was definetly right about her dream being a vision. That was the first hapenning being saw by her, and that was frightening her, but that was not it. Cause in the same day that her mother received a letter from Kings Landing, was the same day she dreamed about Bran falling from the tower. And this... this was something that she doesn't want to be right about.
