Dreams… wishes… hopes…

Are they just fragile figments of our imagination?

Is it only a matter of time until they are shattered by the heartlessness of this world?

Are they destined to simply lie broken in the street,

to be trampled by people and scattered about by the wind?

Who can persevere and keep them alive?

Will those who cling to life be endure?

Or will they be shaken from the thread of hope and be crushed by the waves that roil in the seas of fate?

Can anyone survive the pain, push beyond the fear, and fight through the anger to see the light?

Depression, hatred, sorrow…

Are we destined to be overrun by these, the true enemies of the world?

Or is there yet a chance that someone could break the chains and crush the hold these demons have over us?

And if such a one should appear, would we be willing to listen?

Or would we push that one away, break her spirit, taint her purity?

Why is it that we fear the light?

Why do we run and hide from that which could save us?

Could it be that we fear the purity it holds?

For that purity forces us to look at what we really are.

We are forced to realize that we are filled with darkness and corruption.

Guilt, the devil's tool to imprison us and make us his slaves,

to condemn our souls to an eternity of misery

and keep us from ever again setting eyes on the light, the one thing that can save us from ourselves.

Why do we let it control us?

Will we ever find the courage to follow the light we so long for

and to shake off these bonds that dictate our lives?

Will the light ever find us as we struggle through the night?

Perchance the light is right around the corner.

Maybe if we could hold onto the last shred of hope for one more day,

perhaps then the bearer of light will appear before us and pull us from the darkness.

Until then, we will keep, searching, keep fighting, keep praying.

Please come and find us.

We are waiting in the darkness… and longing for the light.
