A bullet blazed through a piece of the wagon right beside Chris' elbow.
JD yelled. "JD!" Buck screamed, his rage and terror clear in his voice.
"IT'S OKAY!" Nathan shouted. "I'VE GOT HIM! HE'S GONNA BE OKAY!"
"We've got to end this, brother," Josiah told Chris. "The death birds are beginning to circle!"
"AH BELIEVE THE PHRASE IS DON'T LOOK NOW!"
Chris cussed as he glanced another mountaintop full of Indians. They were already caught between Apaches and Mexicans who wanted the gold that this family had come by honestly.
Relief came when he heard Vin's voice. "'S OKAY! THEY'RE FRIENDS!"
