Arthur stared at the creature in front of him. It was neither fully human, nor lion, not even a bird either, instead becoming a mishmash of the three. It had the body of an impossibly large lion, The head of a beautiful woman whose size was not in proportion to that of its body with oversized fangs that stuck out of the mouth in grotesque fashion. And finally, its wings were only just big enough to lift the creature off the ground.
Arthur recognized the creature from Greek Mythology. The Sphinx . It reared up in front of him with an ear-splitting roar of anger. A large paw, about the size of his torso slammed down, and Arthur barely managed to roll out of its path. He wasn't, however, prepared for the beat of its massive wings, which threw him halfway across the open field.
Arthur started to get up, when he heard a loud hiss above him. He raised his head and saw two scaly women, each with two thick snake trunks for legs. One of them looked at him and said, "Another child. Masssster will be pleasssssed." They both started laughing, almost uncontrollable such was their mirth. Then one of them clubbed him the hilt of a sword, and Arthur blacked out.
