"Do you really have to go?" I asked, feeling as if my world was breaking.

"You know that answer, babe." He paused. "They need me back, but, you do know that I would rather be with you, right?"

"Yeah. But..."

"But what, Rae?" He cupped my face with his hands, concern written all over his face.

"But it's so unfair!" The tears finally came pouring out my violet eyes, like a flood after a long drought.

"Oh Rae." He said, and he kissed each of my tears away, and then kissed me long on my gray lips. "I love you. But...I...have...to...go..." With each pause, he kissed me again.

"But they are only coming in the morning, right?" I had to keep him with me for as long as I could.

"Yeah. I leave tomorrow, but I need to pack tonight."

"How long are you going to be gone?"

"I'm not sure, love. For as long as they need me to be."

"Am I ever going to see you again?" I manged to choke out.

"Of course you will! Come on, Rae. It's just the military. We faced danger everyday when we were in the Titans!" But I could tell he was worried too.

I took a deep breath and said,

"When we were in the Titans, we had a team of superheroes who had incredible strength. I could heal you instantly when you were hurt. The villains, we could put them in jail. But, out there, you are going to be the only superhero! I can't heal you if I don't know it even happened! And, everyone you meet will be thinking about killing you! What's so great about that, Gar?"

"Rae. If it was up to me...I wouldn't go, but I have to do this, for you, and our old team, and...our country."

"Then please," I started begging, "take me with you!"

"You know why I can't."

"Then, if you can't do that, please do something for me."

"Anything, love."

I whispered in his ear. He smiled a sad smile, picked me up, and started my request...

It's morning. I wake up to him with his firm arms around my waist. I sigh in pleasure. Why couldn't it stay like this? I untangled myself from him, and got up. I carefully walked to the basement, and got him a suitcase. He wasn't able to pack last night. I brought it upstairs in a daze, and then I collapsed.

"Gar!" I scream, my stomach in so much pain. He comes running, and when he sees me, fear fills his face.

"Rae? What happened?" The pain stops as fast as it started. I tell him. "Come on," he says,, "let's go have some breakfast."

"Love. They're here." It's time. He's going. I kiss him so hard, as if it's my last, and it might be. "I'll write to you everyday."

"Alright." I answer solemnly.

"You need to promise me one thing though." He whispers in my ear.

"Anything." I whisper back.

"Take care of yourself, and Arella Marie." He places his hand on my stomach. It's almost unnoticeable, but he can tell.

"I will." Outside, a horn is honked.

"I got to go, babe."

"I know." He lifts his suitcase.

"Bye Mrs. Logan." He jokes.

"Bye Mr. Logan." I joke back.

He's serious again. "Bye Rae."

I use his old nickname. "Bye Beastboy."

He smiles, a sad smile, and walks out the door. All the while, I keep my hand on my stomach. "He'll be back," I say to myself. "He has to be."
