Pidge runs her fingers through Cosmo's thick coat, and shifts her hands up to his head to scratch around his ears. The space-wolf really came through for her earlier, teleporting into the space-pirate ship to get it off her tail. Cosmo had gotten hurt doing it, too.
"You're really great, y'know? I was being all standoffish to you, but you were able to put all that to the side. Thanks for having my back."
Cosmo just looks at her, and leans into the scratches. He lowers himself to the ground and flops onto his side. Pidge starts petting him along his back and side.
"I thought you were allergic," Keith says, voice coming from the doorway behind Pidge.
The girl startles, jerking a little in surprise and falling onto her butt from her squatted position. Cosmo seems amused by it, giving his head a shake before laying his head along his crossed forelegs.
"I just said that because I was missing my dog, Bae Bae."
"Ah," Keith said as he came into the room and took a knee next to Pidge and the space-wolf. He rubs a hand along Cosmo's head. The space-wolf closes his eyes, and seems content.
"Cosmo really helped the whole team out today," Pidge remarks.
"That name is really going to stick around, huh?" Keith shakes his head. "But yeah, he did. He's intelligent, and great at predicting how events are going to turn out."
"Do you think he might have precognition along with the teleportation?" Pidge asks.
Keith blinks and says, "Never thought about it. Maybe? You're welcome to run whatever tests you want-if he doesn't want to do it he'll just teleport somewhere else."
Pidge grins, "I think I can come up with some fun tests. How 'bout it, Cosmo?"
The teenager scratches under Cosmo's chin. The space-wolf leans into it but otherwise ignores her.
"You're going to spoil him."
"If he didn't like it, he'd just teleport out," Pidge sasses.
Keith grunts, and shakes his head. He stands up, and holds his hand out to her. "We've got a team meeting."
Pidge sighs, and gives Cosmo one more chin scratch before taking Keith's offered hand to be helped up.
"The work never ends," she complains.
"Nope," Keith responds.
Cosmo opens his eyes to watch them leave, then curls up to take a well deserved nap. Later, he will go to Hunk's lion and get some tasty snacks the Yellow Paladin will be making after the meeting. (Well, Cosmo doesn't know if they are tasty yet, but in his mind's eye it looks like he is enjoying them, so he's sure they will be.)
Notes: Space Wolf is awesome and deserves to be petted. (Basically the only reason I wrote this story). Also, if it wasn't clear the end of the story is confirming Pidge's theory that Cosmo can see into the future a little bit). Please feel free to leave your comments.
