Toshiro Hitsugaya walked into his office and sat down at his desk. Today had been a simple, boring day in the Seretei, much like the others recently. He glanced up, and sure enough, his lieutenant was passed out on the couch, right in front of the usual mountain of unfinished paperwork she had disregarded. Hitsugaya, of course, had finished his share early that morning. He sighed. It was so peaceful in the office that he almost didn't want to wake her up and force the paper work on her. Almost.
"Hey, Matsumoto," He said, getting up and standing by the couch. She didn't budge. "Hey, get up!"
Not an inch.
"…RANGIKU!"
"Huh? What?" The red-head jumped, startled by her captain, and rolled off the couch, landing face first on the hardwood floor. "Ouch! That hurt!" She whined, "It's not good for a woman like me to just land on her chest like that! They're going to be sore!"
Slowly but surely, she lifted herself off of her stomach to see her fuming captain standing over her wearing a harsh scowl.
"Oh, Captain! What a pleasant surprise! Wait…What are you doing in here?" She asked, genuinely puzzled.
"For the last time, Matsumoto, this is the Captain's office, not your bedroom!" He said, his arms crossed tight. She looked around.
"Oh, right! Wait…What time is it? I'm going to be late!"
"For what," Toshiro asked angrily. She got up and began to walk around, mumbling something to herself while playing with her long, wavy hair and smoothing her shihakusho.
"I said, for what?"
"Huh? Oh," she giggled, "Sorry! Anyways, I promised Shuuhei and Izuru I'd meet them for a drink! I hope they haven't been waiting too long…"
A drink? Who does she think she is?
"Rangiku, you have a responsibility as the lieutenant of this squad to-" He stopped in mid sentence. She wasn't listening to him. Not one bit. Instead, she had begun humming to herself as she opened up her tote bag.
"Aww, I'm clean out! And sake is expensive! Oh well, Izuru can pick up the tab!"
Toshiro sighed in disappointment as he pressed his hand against his forehead.
"Hey, what's wrong, Taichou?" She said softly. He stared up at the genuine expression in her face, her pale blue eyes sparkling in the sunlight as she stood by the window. He gestured to the table.
"Do you not see this giant pile of-"
"Bye, Captain!" she said cheerfully, and the door slammed behind her.
"…MATSUMOTOOO!"
Yup, so that's it for the first chapter. I've already finished writing this one, so I should update it a little sooner than any others I may start. R&R!
