The dark world mocked her, obscured her view. Her name had become a curse. She now lied in history... in loss, not victory. Seaspray was dead, she could feel no presence of him. Her heart ached at the knowledge of it, but there it was... laughing at her. Those nobodies destroyed her life. Luck gave them legends, but did not reveal the truth to them... They'd forgotten that she still had the Dragon's Eye. They forgot that she could breathe underwater with it. They thought she was dead. They... were horribly wrong.
She rose out of the water and gasped for pure oxygen at last一 pure oxygen from a filthy place. There was a dusty, untamed village surrounded by ungroomed trees, which inhabited several wild chimpanzees and orangutans. The campfire at the center of the small village coughed up puffs of gray, tattered smoke as most villagers strode around with bundles of goods in their sandals. Meanwhile, their children with unclean faces raced alongside them barefooted and covered in bits of dirt and grass.
Song grimaced in disgust. This was nothing like her palace in Zhong. At her former home, billows of white, clean smoke rose from their chimneys and children were never allowed to run and ruin their nice clothing like that, and they would especially never run barefooted in the palace, or they'd face being beat by their parents, the dukes and duchesses. "Peasants, she thought, "Fit nothing for royalty."
Song had murdered her father, the emperor, and after planning it for years, it was ruined! She had been betrayed by her best friend, Kana, and…
KANA!
"Oh, Kana, you traitor!" she seethed, "You failed to defend me, and let Meilin and her peasant boyfriend pass." Song could feel the blazes rise into her as her torn silks were being seeped by the cold water. All her hard work, her treasures, her dominating future, taken away by her "best" friend, and that meddling girl, Meilin!
She played with her last treasure, the Dragon's Eye, her key to surviving underwater. She could send a tsunami and ruin the precious little Greencloaks' castle, but that would give out the fact that she lived, and it everything she did with it would take twice as long without poor Seaspray, her perished water dragon. So what now?
"Hey," greeted a voice, making Song almost jump, "What are you doing here?"
"Oh…" sneered Song, looking up at the dark-colored skin boy who was her age. She opened her mouth for the first time after long hours and hissed, "Well I'm here to take over the world… you with me?"
The boy kneeled down with an evil glint in his eyes, "Oh, I've been waiting for this day for years一 your majesty."
"Now here was someone fit to serve an empress," thought Empress Song then she whispered under her breath, "Unlike you, Kana, and you should watch out. Oh, and for you and Meilin, it's not over. The world is about to crumble on you this time."
