This was an idea that just wouldn't go away. Reviews are much appreciated!

Perfection was all relative, really

How else could she explain it?

What other reasons could there possibly be for what had just happened? It went against every logical thing she had ever seen, ever heard.

She was perfect. Everyone told her so. Her golden curls made her the envy of everyone on campus. Her bubbly personality caused even those who envied her to love her and her sweet smile and delicate laugh made any male within a hundred yards immediately notice her. Her parents, her friends, even some of her professors were singing her praises. How could she not believe it herself?

He was perfect. He knew he was perfect. Why wouldn't he be? With his glittering sapphire eyes and sultry smile, he could make any woman swoon with delight. He was the object on every girl's desire. The majority of them no doubt had his picture posted somewhere on their dorm wall. The boy was deliciously handsome. And to top it off, he was a prince! How could he not be perfect?

It was only logical that they would be together. Perfection went with perfection. It was as simple as that.

Wasn't it?

Oh, that had been together for a while. Quite a while, actually. Four years was exactly a casual relationship. And they were perfect together. Everyone said so. She was perfectly happy, as was he. She had always thought they would just continue happily down their yellow brick road, hand in hand, to their happy ever after.

The perfect couple with the perfect future.

So when had the definition of perfect changed?

She wasn't sure when it had happened. All she knew was that her perfect world had fallen perfectly apart. Her perfect prince had abandoned her for Oz only knew what with the one person who was probably the most imperfect person she knew.

Even as she stood gazing off into the distace, the answer came with aching certainty.

Perfection had to be relative. How else could she explain this strange pairing of her dashing prince and renegade best friend?

A deep connection based on internal traits instead of surface value.

A most unlikely pair.

A perfect fit.
