Disclaimer: I own nothing that is linked to Underworld. Meeh simple. I have not read any books or seen anything that is linked
to Underworld except the movie so forgive me if I get something all weird and wrong.
Authoresses Note: I'm sorry I know this is almost just a copy of the scene in the movie but I have to have like a prologue kinda thing that shows how Michael caused Selene to go back into her memories. The next few chapters
will be like a 'flashback' of Selene's past and how her family died. Enjoy and review if you have time.
Michael looked at Selene half confused and half angry at the way she was acting toward him.
"Why do you hate them so much?" He asked.
Selene sighed impatiently, I've already told you. The war."
Michel looked down to the floor as he spoke, "So you were just following orders?" No reaction from Selene prompted him to state irately, "Why can't you just answer the question. Fine."
Selene stood looking out of the window as Michael spoke. Slowly the window dissolved into the images of that night, so many years ago. Flashes of the bodies and of the blood invaded her mind. "Something was in the stable," she began, talking more to herself then to Michael, "tearing the horses to pieces. I couldn't have saved my mother … or my sister, their screams woke me. My father died outside, trying to fend them off. I stood at my door … about to run to my niece's room. Twin girls, barely six years old … BUTCHERED like animals."
Michael began to regret asking Selene why she hated the Lycans so much. The pain evident in her voice made him want to get up and hug her. At that thought he berated himself. You're a Lycan Michael, just the thing that she hates most, he thought angrily. Hearing her speak of her niece's he closed his eyes at the horrible images such discussion brings. These creatures were what he was about to become, he could hardly bare the thought. "Jesus Christ," he muttered.
Selene made no indication that she had heard Michael and in fact he doubted that she even could, she seemed very deep into her memories as she continued, "Next thing I knew I was in his arms. The war had spilled into our house. He had been tracking the Lycans for days … he drove them off and saved me."
Michael looked up to Selene at the repetitive mention of a "he", confused he
asked, "Who?"
At the sound of Michel's voice Selene snapped out of the memories of the nightmare that had been her past. Glancing at Michael she continued, "Viktor. The oldest and strongest of us. That night he made me a vampyre. He gave me the strength to avenge my family. Since then I have never looked back."
Michael closed his eyes as Selene left, glancing down at his handcuffed hand he thought about the kiss that they had shared. Of course it was highly Selene had only kissed him to get him to stay, but he couldn't help hope that there was more to it then that. His thoughts then moved to the story of Selene's past, no wonder she hated the Lycans he thought, and he just had to be one of them. Why did he always have to go for the girl he couldn't get?
Selene climbed into her car and turned it on. She sat in the driver's seat not doing anything for what seemed like a lifetime while she thought over the kiss she and Michael had shared. She had only done it so she could lock him up right? The bad thing was she didn't know and that scared her. He was a Lycan for god's sake. One of the creatures she had spent the majority of her life hunting down and killing. One of the creatures that had torn her life and her family apart so many years ago. As she started the car she was thrown into memories of the past yet again.
