A Thousand Years of Waiting
In the span of time since Sasuke left, Naruto could not count how many kunai he had used to attack his opponents, or how many jutsu he had learned and used in the battles, or even how many people he had killed in order to finish his missions. However, if you were to ask him about Sasuke, Naruto could count exactly how many years, days, hours, or even minutes had passed since Sasuke left Konoha.
It was a bit frightening, really, because the Naruto that people knew was supposed to care more for his accomplishments, for things that would lead him to reach the Hokage position, instead of focusing his intensity upon a Konoha traitor that should have been forgotten a long time ago.
Everyone has given up on Sasuke, even Sakura, the one who had begged Naruto to get Sasuke back. And everyone has really tried to convince Naruto to do the same, to no avail. Because they never realized the true reason of Naruto's "obsession" with Sasuke.
Until one day, in the middle of a friendly gathering of Naruto's closest friends, in which Sakura was ranting endlessly about that stubborn, pig-headed Naruto who didn't know when to give up, a total stranger passed their table and said loudly enough for everyone to hear:
"Because love can hope where reason would despair."
Such simple words, and yet, it stunned the whole group sitting around the table into a long silence. And then, when they saw Naruto the next day, they didn't know whether to cry or to hug him close and never let him go.

Eurgh this is the worst fic I've ever written, and yet it seems that I couldn't fix it better. Well, this is what you get when I wrote without thinking cringes. You know, I was in the process of making the update for the Master Lists when the plot bunny attacked me mercilessly, and I gave up so easily since I really want to write a fic using the quote.
The quote was intended to be used in Colour Me Rainbow, but I just forgot to use it since I struggled so much with that fic. Only after I had posted the fic I remembered that the quote was not used at all! So silly of me, right?
