A/N: This story was created after someone on Tumblr prompted it with this sentence: 'He sat her down and held her close before telling her the terrible news.' It's short but all I can manage now, lol. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: Nothing is mine.
'Terrible news'
He sat her down and held her close before telling her the terrible news.
"Teresa… I'm so, so… so sorry, that it had to come to this but… I… I need you to understand that I don't like this situation either… but we'll have to make the best of it. And… I hope you won't get angry, but I would understand if you will."
"Jane. I don't like it when you're talking in riddles."
He hesitated. She squeezed his hand, worried about what he might have to say to her.
"Teresa… the coffee machine broke down."
She stared at him wide-eyed, blinking a couple of times, hoping that when she did so, he might have not said what he just had.
Jane, having looked into her eyes, already backed away and covered his head. She huffed. As though she was that aggressive.
"Patrick Jane." She paused, looking at him intently, waiting until he was looking at her. "I can't have coffee anymore. Not for the next eight months or so."
"Are you kidding me?"
She looked at him even more intently. For a genius it took quite a long time until the penny dropped.
"Are you pregnant?"
She let her blinding smile answer his question.
And his superfluous fears disappeared, to be replaced by tears of joy.
Little did he know that she didn't mind living on tea for the next few months.
