"That's not my name!"

"Please Kate, I'm sorry so sorry. I don't understand? What is wrong?"

"Tony my name is Jessica! Not Kate!" It's not the first time he's called her that but, it will damn well be the last.

"Wait… what? You're not Kate!?" He is totally confused. Wait, no, shit, Kate is dead. This is not Kate, he tells himself as he tries to find a way to salvage the night. Calling women by the wrong name is NOT in the DiNozzo play book.

"No Tony, I'm not. Who is Kate, and who is she?" Being called the wrong name is not that big of a deal, but this is not the first time and, frankly she wants answers. Being the 'other woman' is not who she is. She once again checks for a ring, not finding one, or even a tan line reaffirms that this is not that situation. But still, no woman wants to be called another name.

"She was…was my partner. She died… died, right in front of me." He hangs his head. Midnight confessions to almost strangers is not how this was supposed to go.

"Oh, shit, damn it. I'm sorry Tony. Really. Tell me. Please." She can no longer be angry. This is too much;. being the other women would be preferable.

"Nothing to tell; you just look like her." He does not look at her. He knows that there is more to it than that.

"Bullshit. Yes, I may look like her for all I know, but you wouldn't call me her in the heat of the moment if there wasn't more. Do you… Did you love her?" Yeah, she figured the looks but, there has to be more. She can tell by his soft tone and hesitant speaking.

"Yes… No… not like a lover. Like sister. You know, I'm a Fed, a cop. I see death far too much, but she had just survived one bullet only to be taken by another. We were joking then, I- I had her blood on my face, and she was gone. It still haunts me. Maybe I could have pushed her out of the way, maybe. You just look so much like her. I know you are not her but, but I wish you were." He wonders why all the women her picks up now looks like her. If there was more there than he consciously knows about.

"I'm so sorry, but you're correct, I'm not her." Placing a kiss on his forehead she says, "Goodnight Tony" and is gone.
