"…there's only one way for me to set the record straight, I am Green Arrow."
The video feed stopped and zoomed in on a shot of Oliver, cutting the screen in half and plastering next to it a drawing of Green Arrow. Bold letters at the bottom read: Green Arrow un-hooded. The shot then changed and showed two news' anchors in the studio while the pictures were minimized and posted on the top left corner of the screen.
"CEO of Queen Industries and a chairman of LuthorCorp., Oliver Queen has publicly announced that he in fact is the vigilante Green Arrow. Our very own Tammy Hart was on site when he announced it. Tammy –the screen split in half showing both women- tell us, how is this even possible. Billionaire living a double life as a vigilante, nonetheless. I don't think anyone had the slightest idea of who the Archer could've possibly been and now that this is out, I still find it hard to believe that a CEO was running around in green leather, jumping rooftops at night playing the hero."
"It really is a shocker, but you've seen the feed. It's true. He is in fact Green Arrow. What is more of a surprise is that now -a few hours after he came clean- a group of protestors have posted themselves outside of the building boycotting. If you look closely you can read what the signs say. Some have the word Hero crossed out, others say Vigilantism isn't Heroic. This has turned into a circus. Wait, hold on a sec… I have just received information stating that this has reached the City's DA. What this means for Queen, no one–"
She grabbed the remote and turned the television off cutting of the reporter mid-sentence. Oh, Oliver. She sunk in deeper into the couch and just stared at the now black screen. This wasn't supposed to happen. He was supposed to be safe, both identities were, not be turned into a public enemy.
The look on his face when he announced it flashed in her mind, she didn't miss the determination his expression held or the bit of fear and guilt lurking underneath it. She knew why he did it, why he risked everything to be out in the open. As pissed as she was at him for doing one of the stupidest things she's ever seen him do, she couldn't help but feel proud, and admire what he is doing. He's trying to be the hero she knows he can be; he wants to be honest with the world and show them that they don't need to fear those who want to save them.
As much as she wants to go back, she can't. There is too much at risk right now, and she can't add more to it. She needs a new plan and back-up plan and a back- up for the back- up plan. She trusts him with his current decisions, she has to in order to be able to sleep at night, well to be able to sleep for those few minutes she can because honestly she can't not when she knows he's hurting. This is for the best though, it has to be because the world needs him, even if they are ready to crucify him, they will eventually see the hero he is and accept him.
She leaned forward and grabbed the newspaper in front of her; she looked down and stared at the picture of him that was plastered on the cover page.
There was an ache in her chest as she traced his image with her fingertips. All she needed was some more time to create a bulletproof plan because once she had that she would go back to him, of that she was sure.
She muttered to herself as she placed the newspaper back down, "Not yet though, not yet."
