Eighteen minutes had already passed when an old man sat on the bench next to Adam. His wife had just entered the same store as Laura. As much as he loved Laura, he hated waiting for her to finish. Fidgeting every so often, the old man looked at Adam and smiled.

"You get used to it, I can't think of one time in the past 50 years where she hasn't made me wait for her" He said gently.
"I wouldn't change it though" he continued on.

Holding out his hand the old man says "William". After a short pause Adam clicks on and shakes his hand while giving his name "Adam" Smiling William replied "Nice to meet you..."

"You know son I remember the first time she made me wait for her. It was our first date" With a dreamy expression on his face, William was transported back to 2003 when she was no longer the only slayer and he had been in a solid form for 2 weeks.

"...It was the night of our first date, she didn't like any of the outfits she had so I was waiting just over 30 minutes before she came down the stairs in a stunning little black dress. And you know what, her sister told me it was the first outfit she had on."

"Sounds a lot like Laura" Adam agreed with a laugh.

With a grin on his face he began again, "That's just the beginning, I asked her to marry me and I had no clue what I was getting into, she made me wait a year that time" the grin got bigger now "but the honeymoon, yeah the honeymoon was worth the wait" he finished with a wink.

A slight tinge came over Adam's cheeks.

"But you know what son, when you know she's the one, the waiting doesn't matter any more, because you know whatever happens it's worth the wait. Every time we leave the house, she makes me wait..."

Spying his girl coming out of the shops Adam interrupted him with a grin on her face "There she is, that's my girl" Just as Laura reached them Adam and William stood up to greet her.

Coming out of the store with a smile on, Buffy saw her husband talking to a young man and his girl. Heading towards them she caught William's eye and he nodded towards her.

Seeing the old man move ever so slightly Adam followed his gaze to the woman he arrived with who was now getting closer by the second.

"Luv, this is Adam and Laura"

Just as suddenly as they had met, they bid each other goodbye, retreating to their respective lives.

It was another 50 years before Adam met William and Buffy again while he waited for Laura to join them in their peaceful resting.
