It's early morning, nobody's awake. The cat is back at his roof, where he feels safe and where no one can bother him.
But on this particular day, Tohru has waken up earlier. Her usual breakfast consisted of milk and cereal. Opening the refrigerator, she finds the milk carton gone, so she suspects Kyo is awake. Of course he would take the milk she tells herself.
She climbs up on the roof and greets him. He's startled as he hears her voice, a little too cheery for this part of the day. He stays put, lying down on the roof but turns to face her.
It's a little awkward.
She's sitting beside him, a little embarrassed. "You took the milk.." she starts.
His face gets a little pink as he realizes what she said. He did take the milk. And her usual breakfast consisted of milk and cereal. "Sorry about that." Normally, he would've been cold to someone else who said that to him. But this was Tohru, it was Tohru!
She giggles, stating that Kyo blushing, is certainly a rare sight to see. He gets a little more red.
"Shut up," Kyo replies, turning away only a little. "Why are you up so early anyway?" He asks, changing the subject.
The sun has not yet risen, it's still only twilight. The sky was getting brighter, close to illuminating everything around them.
"No particular reason..." But she soon contradicts herself, and points to Kyo.
It's early morning, and he smiles back at her, he figured it was dark enough.
It was only a slight smile, a smile so small that she could have missed it if she blinked.
A smile so small, that if the sun hadn't been creeping out right at that moment, she would have missed it.
She was grateful, his smile was hard t come across, but these things happen.
