Just an Ordinary Day
Ersken, Kora, Aniki, and Phelan walked into Beka's rooms for their breakfast, just as usual. Beka, however, appeared to be still in bed, which was not usual.
"Do you think she's sick?" asked Aniki.
"I want all of you out of here," Kora ordered. "If she's sick I'm going to need quiet to heal her."
They filed out of the room, grumbling, and Kora closed the door behind them.
"Beka?" Kora called.
A muffled groan was the only answer she got. Frowning, Kora approached the bed. This wasn't like Beka. She pulled back the bedclothes and gasped, then shrieked an apology and fled out of the room and into the hallway, where the others were waiting. She was completely mortified. She would have paid money not to have seen that. To joke about it was one thing, but to see…EW!
"Pox and murrain!" Beka mumbled. "For someone who's supposed to be the king of thieves, you sure are dumb when it comes to securing rooms."
Rosto, lying beside her, just smiled. "I was distracted."
Beka sighed.
"So was I. Thank the goddess we remembered to shut the door." Rosto grinned wickedly
"Well, I guess all good things must end."
"End? What do you mean?"
"I mean it's time to get up and tell all those birdies on the other side of your door why Kora is acting so strange. I think we gave her quite a start."
"No!!" and Beka pulled the sheets over her head. Rosto gently pulled them down again and kissed her softly, cradling her in his arms.
"I love you, my little terrier." He said.
It felt so right to finally say that! She was his and she always would be. "But you're being silly. We would have had to tell them sometime, this was just sooner than we expected."
"Much sooner," she agreed. "You couldn't just go out the window and climb down the wall with me, could you?"
"I could, but I won't, and if you don't get dressed and open that door then I will open it with you still lying here. Besides," he said, kissing her soundly, "I love you far too much to risk dropping you by climbing down a wall."
They got dressed, and when Beka turned towards her door, she stepped right into Rosto's arms. He eased his lips over hers softly, lingering, until she was melting in his arms, tingling all over.
He whispered in her ear "I am yours. Forever."
He released her, and she started to collapse. Rosto must have realized this, because he caught her again, and set her down on her bed.
Whispering a quick "I'll be right back," Into her ear, he walked out into the hallway, where their friends where clearly trying to eavesdrop-with the exception of Kora; she was slowly rocking back and forth on the floor, still terrified-with little success.
They jumped when he came out. It was clear that that was not what they were expecting. "You're going to have to find a different place to eat breakfast. Beka's rooms are… otherwise occupied at the moment. Ersken, if you would be so kind as to inform Goodwin and Tunstall that Beka isn't coming to work today."
And with that, he slipped back inside Beka's rooms, leaving them standing there, shocked.
"Wow," was the only thing Aniki said. The others nodded. That about summed it up.
A moan came from inside the room, and the other's decided to leave. Inside the room, Beka giggled quietly. "I knew that would get them to stop listening!" she said between giggles.
Rosto simply sat there, marveling at how easy it was to make her happy. So he kissed her.
Repeatedly.
