A/N: Did I not say I would remake it? Well, I tried to make this chapter longer than the chapters in What Lies Ahead, hope I succeeded. This is my spin on the end of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and the manga. Comment, please! No flames or I'll throw water at you! Ha-ha, just kiddi~ng. But criticize!

Where the Tears Fall

A blonde was smiling. It was a certain blonde; Edward Elric. He was smiling at a body; naked and laying down in the middle of a transmutation circle. A human transmutation circle. Edward shuffled over to the body and dropped to his knees to examine the body.

It was thin; thin enough to count the ribs underneath the skin. Its hair was sprawled out behind the head it was attached to; the hair was long and darker than Edward's hair, closer to brown than blonde. And the body was curled up on its side, as if in pain. Edward lifted the head into his lap and looked at the face, and smiled.

It was Alphonse. It had to be, had to! "Alphonse. Alphonse! Wake up!" Edward shook the body a little bit, and again. No response, "Alphonse! Dammit! Answer me!" Edward's voice trembled in fear.

He's not waking up! He has to! Has to!

Edward's eyes squeezed close and his teethed clenched. He held back the tears and was getting ready to scream for a doctor, nurse, someone; but he heard a grunt and the head on his lap moved.
"Brother?"

Alphonse? Alphonse. Alphonse!

"Alphonse!" Edwards's eyes opened and saw Alphonse's hazel eyes staring back up at him. Edward laughed and felt water leak from his eyes and fall onto his shirt. Alphonse showed a weak smile, and then coughed; and didn't stop coughing. Alphonse pushed off of Edward and hacked up air, until blood and bile pushed out of his mouth.

NO!

His arms wobbled then he collapsed. Edward pushed back and heard a scream. He looked around to see who screamed, and not only found that it was him, but that, there was no one is sight. No one. Nothing. Everything was black, forward and back, it was an infinity of black.

Edward stood to his feet and turned his back to the dead body. He felt sick. Edward's eyes closed again and he threw his head back and screamed at the top of his lungs, "FUCK!" He sank to his knees and pounded his fist on the black ground. Instead of a thud, he heard a clank, and looked up. Automail. He lifted his left leg and pulled his pant leg up. Automail.

How?

He heard movement from behind him. He slowly sat up and looked behind him.

Nothing. There was nothing there. "A-Alphonse?"

Why isn't he there? He was dead! WHERE IS HE?

He stared to panic and stood up and turned to look in all directions. He chose one and ran. His lungs burst into flames, but he kept running. He finally tripped and fell on his face. When he was getting back up to run some more there was a female voice.

"Edward?"

What? What?

Edward turned around, and his eyes widened. It was her. HER!

"M-Mom?"

Trisha Elric stood there smiling; she looked like she did the day she died. Pale. Almost white. And was wearing her usual dress. He saw a hand reach out from behind her, and then a foot, an arm, a leg, a body. Alphonse. He had Edwards coat on him and was smiling, too. He looked like the body, the one that was supposed to be dead and lying where Edward had just ran from.

No. No. No. No…

Edward had a bad feeling, a really bad feeling. He backed up. He was turning to run when Trisha talked again, "Why run, Edward? You got us back didn't you? We are right here! LOOK AT US!"

Shut up! Please, shut up!

Edward turned back to them and they were walking to him. Closer and closer. He gulped and took a step back. Their smiles became wider and Alphonse had blood dripping out of the corners of his mouth. Both Trisha and Alphonse said something Edward could hear, but he read their lips. And a tear fell from his eye to the ground as he closed his eyes.

"Love you, too."

My eyes snapped open and all I saw was black.

No!

I sat up quickly and rubbed my eyes, then opened them again. I saw a light and turned my head towards it. There was a window, and through it, I saw the moon. A full moon. Big and round near the tips of the trees in the distance. I smiled and chuckled a little bit. I lifted my right hand to the front of my shirt to pull it away from my chest. A thin sheet of sweat covered my body and I kicked the sheets off my legs.

I saw a glint from my right hand and looked down. Automail. My left leg? Automail.

How? How?

"Fullmetal." A deep voice spoke my name, and I turned my head to the voice.

"Bastard Colonel." I already knew who it was. His voice was unmistakable. My eyes, now adjusted to the dark, could see the two figures in the same room. He was in uniform, without his coat on, Hawkeye next to him.

"Edward." She offered me a nod. I nodded back and looked at Roy. I had questions, a lot of them for that matter. Most importantly, "Where is Al? Where is he?" My voice cracked at the last question and flung my legs over the side of the bed I was laying on. I bent over and coughed and moved my hand to wipe my mouth.

"Ouch." When I wiped my mouth with my right arm, I nicked my mouth in the process. Blood dripped into the crease between my lips and I licked the blood off. "Where is he?" I asked when neither Roy nor Hawkeye answered.

"Fullmetal, lay back down and get rest. You can see him tomorrow."

You wish you bastard.

"Hell no!" I got up, intending to march past the two of them and find out where I was and find Alphonse on my own. Instead, I collapsed. Pain ran up from my left leg and right arm through to the rest of my body. And I screamed. Loud and clear. I bit my lip and cursed under my breath.

"Fullmetal!"

"Edward!"

Hawkeye and Roy ran over to me, this I could see as my eyesight dulled. Before everything went black, a name spilled out of my mouth.

"Alphons-e."

And I slipped into the darkness, again.
