"Shit!" Angel screamed. Both Fang and I turned to see that Angel had spilled her drink on her shirt. I looked at Fang. His eyes were as big as mine.

"Sweetie, where in the world did you hear that!" I said

"From you." She said smiling. "Fang and Iggy say it too."

"When did I say that?!" I asked. She held a finger up to her head.

"Your mind. You guys say it ALL the time. What does it mean?" she said asked. I starred at Fang hoping he would answer. As always, he didn't. I looked back at Angel

"Well honey, uh, it means, um…" I struggled trying to find something appropriate to say to a six year old.

"It's a bad word Angel. So don't say it." Fang said seeming a little harsh.

"Why not? You guys say it all the time!" she said.

"Well sweetie, we're older." I said trying to sound nice.

"Oh please Max. Please. Please. Please. Please. Pleeeeaaasssee." She said giving me the bambi eyes. I tried to imagine what would happen if I said ok. Angel walking off saying shit everywhere, all the time.

"I won't do that Max. I promise!" she said reading my mind.

"Angel, no." I said

"Aw Max, please oh please." I was in a battle here. Me verse bambi eyes. I usually didn't ever win. EVER! But angel was too young to say that. Maybe this time I will beat bambi eyes.

"Angel, Max said no." Fang said, trying to back me up.

"Pleeeeeeeeeaasssssee!" she said giving me the extra improved bambi eyes.

"Angel," I said looking her straight in the eye, trying to sound as stern and adult-ish as me, Maximum freaking Ride could sound, "no is no."

Oh no. What happened now? I've NEVER EVER said no to bambi eyes. I braced myself, waiting for whatever would happen.

She looked down at her wet shirt, drenched in whatever she was drinking. Her bottom lip gutted out. A tear rolled down her cheek. I looked at Fang but he just shrugged he shoulders.

I regretted saying no. But at the same time I felt like I accomplished something. I FINALLY said no to bambi eyes. I'm so proud of myself. I sound so stupid. NOT the typical Max.

Currently we were getting food at a fast food restaurant. Nudge was talking to Iggy and Gazzy was playing with the toy that came with the kids meal.

I sighed, reaching into one of our backpacks and searching for a shirt.

After several minutes of searching, I found a tiny, Angel sized green shirt with a peace sign on the front.

I scooted out of our booth and looked down at Angel, who was still looking down at her drenched pink and white shirt, already smothered in dirt.

"Come on. I'll help you with the buttons." I said as she smiled a little and followed me to the bathroom.
