Alphonse Elric sat on the river bank staring across it to the other side. He sighed feeling the weight lay heavy in his heart as it always did when he fought with his older brother. Normally he was able to take Ed's cynical comments and impulsive nature in stride chiming in as the voice of reason to his brash older brother but it was when Edward slipped away that he couldn't take. Ed's eye's would get hazy and unfocused and Al knew what was coming next. Normally he wouldn't comment or interrupt his brother when he got into one of these moods but today had been different. Al closed his eyes tightly and shook his head to keep from sobbing out. He didn't understand why Edward saw things the way that he did. He had thought at first it was his brother's way of coping with their special situation but after a while realized that his brother was not well, that Edward truly believed what he spoke. Al didn't even have to turn his head to hear his brother approach. Edwards heavy footsteps announced it for him. Al glanced down at his auto-mail hand and sighed simultaneously fingering his metal pocket watch that he had been given along with the title of the full metal alchemist.

"Come on Al…lets go." Ed said softly his voice echoing through out the big empty armor. Al nodded swiping his hair from his face before standing up. He followed his brother staring sadly at the armor. Al could normally take his brother's cynical comments and impulsive nature but when Ed slipped away and believed that he was the full metal alchemist and that Alphonse was trapped in the armor instead of himself that was more than the younger Elric could bare.
