You Didn't Have To
Rachel Berry was putting the last of her stuff in her locker for the first day of senior year. She felt the normal shadow of the giant hockey jocks approach her. She cowered in anticipation of feeling a cold icy liquid all over her. But it never came. Instead she heard the familiar splash, and all the students in the hallway gasp. Rachel heard a familiar growl next to her.
"Listen to me. Rachel Berry is off limits. Do you understand?"
"Why are you protecting the loser?" Rick "The Stick" asked.
"Because asshole, she is my girlfriend." Turning to the rest of the student body, she finished by threatening them. "Anyone who has a problem with it, well better get over it quickly. Because I have razorblades hidden up in this weave, and I ain't afraid to go all Lima Heights on ANYBODY! Now MOVE!"
Everybody just stood there and looked at the slushy covered Latina. Until the head cheerleader, and best friend to Santana screamed, "You heard her, now SCRAM!" The whole hallway cleared. Quinn gave Rachel and Santana a friendly smile before going to class.
"You didn't have to do that, you know?" Rachel said quietly to Santana.
Santana turned and looked at Rachel. "Of course I did, you are my girlfriend now and I am not allowing this bullshit to go on anymore." Rachel grabbed Santana's hand and led her to the nearest bathroom and started wiping the slushy off her face.
"No, I meant come out. You didn't have to tell the whole student body about us." Rachel explained.
"Did you not want me to? I'm so sor…" Rachel cut Santana off with a soft kiss.
"I am more than happy to be out. But, what about your reputation? What about the Cheerios? Coach?" Rachel questioned. "Mmm, they picked a good flavor to hit you with though, grape." She stole a longer kiss and licked off some of the slushy. Santana laughed.
"Babe, the rest of the school knows better than to do anything against mine or Q's word. And if Coach or the Cheerios have a problem, then I guess they have one less cheerleader. I love you, and I'm not letting you go for anything." Santana said. She moaned softly at the feeling of Rachel's fingers massaging the slushy out of her head, under the sink.
They sat in silence while cleaning Santana off. As they were getting ready to walk out of the bathroom, Santana grabbed Rachel's hand. "Hey, I'm serious babe. You and me forever, right?"
Rachel smiled, "Forever, 'Tana." She kissed Santana on the cheek.
"Let's go to class." Rachel gave Santana an incredulous look as if to say, 'You actually want to go to class?', "What? The quicker we get to class, the sooner school is over with and the sooner I get my macks on with my girl." Rachel laughed loudly as they walked out of the bathroom hand in hand, smiling.
