As she stared up at him, eyes straining to see what was simply not there, she wasn't sure how things had ended up as they did.

It was impossible. Dreams were more likely to become reality. How did I end up like this?

She stared, knowing that there was nothing she could do to change it. Nothing she could do to take him back.

I made my choice. I made it, and now I am regretting it more than anything I could have ever imagined.

She had chosen another, and now her choice was tearing her apart. It had seemed right, at the time. And then it all came crashing down around her.

How could I have been so blind? It seems so obvious now...

He stood there staring at her, eyes cold and empty. He had no feelings left.

Because I took them from him...

"I have to go."

She wished he wouldn't leave. Deep, buried within the tangled mess that surrounded her heart, she knew she couldn't stop him.

I broke the one thing that meant more than life to me. He opened up to me, and I threw it back in his face.

He turned, slowly. And she watched him, tears streaming down her face. His silver hair brushed up against her hand as he began to walk away. Her body screamed at her. It was telling her to take him back.

But I can't.

Her arm reached out in that moment. Just one last touch. As her hand slid along his arm, his entire body shuddered. He recoiled as if her skin had burned him.

Kagome let out a soft whimper. Sesshoumaru simply continued to make his way along his path, clutching his arm to his body.

Why can't I have him anymore? What did I do wrong?

But Kagome knew. She knew what she had done. And it had left him rejected and alone. She was the one to blame for his solitude, his grief.

And yet, all she could do was call out to him.

"Please, don't leave!"

She wailed, falling to her knees on the soft grass beneath her.

"Stop, I didn't mean it!"

Her tears continued to fall.

"I was wrong!"

Continued to drop unto the earth in front of her.

"Stop!"

Like diminutive pieces of glass, shattering on contact. Like the heart that she had let slip between her fingers.

He stopped for a brief moment.Turned so that she could only see one of his amber eyes, clouded with feelings that she had never dreamed possible for him.

"I gave my heart freely to you, human. And you shattered it. I have nothing left to give you."

His eye became solid. Cold.

"I have nothing left for anyone but myself."

And then he strode on.

Kagome's heart sank even lower. A new wave of tears formed, and flowed.

"I'm sorry,"

He didn't stop.

"Sesshoumaru, I'm sorry!"

He didn't turn around.

"Please, don't go..."

He simply continued to walk. Continued to walk until there was nothing left for her to see of him.

"Please... Sesshoumaru!"

He was gone.

And it was all my fault.
