She cried out as thunder roared across the city. Her panicked, green eyes flew open just as lightning cut jagged, deadly fingers through the night sky, revealing a figure standing right outside her window. Most women would have shrieked again and gone for their phone to call the police, but April didn't. Instead, she lay back in her bed, relaxing and knowing she was safe.
Nightmares like the one she'd just had were nothing uncommon with as many times as she'd been kidnapped, but neither was seeing some one through the archway of her window at night. Many times that individual was Leo or Raph. On occasions, it had proved to be a frustrated Donnie or a lonely Mikey. Once, she'd even awakened to find Splinter keeping watch.
Yet, always, April knew, under their watch, with friends who were more family to her than her own blood kin, she was safe. No matter how many times she was kidnapped, or what the villains tried to do to her to hurt the Turtles, in the end, she would always be safe. She closed her eyes, but the storm shook her apartment. Grinning though grumbling, April headed for her window and pizza.
