Sakura Haruno was on her way to the training field to perfect some new moves to impress Sasuke. That was her only motivation for actually going outside: Sasuke.
She closed her eyes as she imagined herself saving the Uchiha from one thing or another, Sasuke professing his love, and finally, Sasuke kissing her. She opened her eyes as she rounded a corner, and stopped in her tracks when she saw Sasuke walking a few meters in front of her towards the training field.
"Hi Sasuke!" She called out. The Uchiha didn't even turn around to look at her. He kept walking along. Thinking he didn't hear her, she called out to him again. That time, he looked at her with that scowl that's permanently engraved upon his face.
"Do you want to train together?" Sakura asked excitedly.
"Hmph." Was the only response she got from him before he turned and walked away. Sakura's happy expression dropped immediately and she turned away from the training field and walked away.
We're on the same team and he doesn't even want to train with me, Sakura thought to herself. What's wrong with me?
"Sakura! Hey, Sakura!" A voice sounded from behind her. She recognized that annoying, high pitched voice anywhere.
"What do you want, Naruto?" Sakura's voice was harsh and growly. Naruto began to run to keep up with the kunoichi, oblivious to her tone.
"Wanna get some ramen with me?" the orange clad ninja asked in his usual hopeful tone. She was about to reject him for the thirty millionth time, but then she thought about it for a second.
Well if Sasuke wants to be a jerk and not even train with me, she told herself, I might as well spend time with someone who actually gives a damn.
"Sure, Naruto. That sounds great." She told him.
"Naruto, Sakura!" another voice sounded from behind them. They turned around to see Shikamaru; the source of the voice, Kiba, and Hinata running towards them. Sakura looked closer at the three and noticed that Hinata looked distressed, Kiba looked worried, and Shikamaru looked more alert than normal.
"What's up, guys?" Sakura asked.
"Um…" Hinata spoke up. "We… we have a mission." Kiba looked at her with a concerned expression when her voice cracked.
"What's wrong, Hinata?" Naruto asked her. Shikamaru looked like he was starting to get impatient.
"Where's Sasuke?" He asked the two members from squad seven.
"Training field probably. He was headed that direction." Sakura said without a care. If not for more pressing matters at hand, the rest of them would have been wondering why she hadn't offered to go get him.
"Sasuke!" Shikamaru called out while looking behind Naruto and Sakura. They turned around and saw him standing there.
"What do you want?" He asked in his 'I don't give a damn' voice.
"We have a mission!" Naruto told him. Sasuke didn't say anything, but it was clear that he didn't care. Sakura looked at Sasuke, then to Kiba, and noticed that the dog-nin was still looking at Hinata like she was going to jump off a cliff or something. She didn't want to ask, though, because it looked like Kiba had it handled well enough.
"Do you really think I care?" Sasuke asked. From behind them all, they heard some kind of growl come from Hinata. Everyone looked startled and looked at the girl. Even Sasuke, but he looked away almost immediately after and started to walk away.
No one was fast enough to react when Hinata went charging at Sasuke, ready to do gentle fist style on him. Everyone was too shocked to do anything. Well, except for Sasuke. At the last minute, he turned around and grabbed her wrist, twisted her arm behind her back, and slammed her on the ground. Sasuke, shocking everyone, took a kunai out of his pouch and put it by her neck.
"I don't take kindly to being attacked by a fellow ninja, especially for no reason at all. That wasn't a good idea to begin with. Then consider the fact that I'm able to predict your movements with my Sharringan." Sakura looked closer to the raven haired boy and noticed that he indeed had it activated. "Now, if you want me to let you go, you need to calm down."
"Hey, you don't even know why she attacked you!" Naruto shouted, which Sasuke ignored.
"Shikamaru, come over here and get her." Sasuke demanded. "Can't be too careful, she might be stupid enough to attack me again."
"Just let her go!" Kiba growled at him. He never really liked Sasuke, and now this.
"Once someone comes and gets her, I will." Kiba sighed and went over to Sasuke, took the Kunai from his hand and tossed it, then helped Hinata up.
"Get out of here, Uchiha." Kiba said. "The mission is to go save her sister and you say you don't care. She had her own reason to attack you. I would have, too."
"Still don't care, and you can tell the hokage that I'm not going on the mission." He said before walking away.
"Kiba." Shikamaru said. Kiba took one last look at Sasuke before leading Hinata away from the bitchy Uchiha with an arm around her shoulders for comfort.
None of them could believe that Sasuke had done that. They knew he could be a jerk, but this was new.
What the hell crawled up his ass and died? Sakura and Naruto asked themselves.
