Author's note: Sorry, gang, but I'm really stuck with the Inside Man so you will have to wait longer but meanwhile, let's get the machine working again! Tally-ho, Scooby Doo!

The Fright Hound will be the least of the gang's problems in this one! And yes, this is a prequel of "A Voice from Beneath"! Let's get to it!

1. The Lonely Howl

The moon shone bright over the sea. Crystal Cove was quiet and the only sound they could hear were the sounds in the stadium and the roaring of the captured monsters in the docks. The Mystery Gang was back in the fry!

Mr. E sighed in relief as he watched the gang together again. They had evaded the worst and could move on now to... A low powerful howl was heard in the city. It sounded almost like a wolf but the man was sure that it was a hound's. What was...?

"Home is behind. The world ahead.

And there are many paths to tread.

Through shadow to the edge of night.

Until the stars are all alight.

Mist and shadows, cloud and shade.

All shall fade. All shall fade."

A sad and misty voice had joined the hound. What kind of a joke was...? The phone started ringing and E jerked up. Was everyone trying to scare him out of his wits that night?

'Yes?'

'Is it done? Is everything OK now?' it was Angel.

'Yes, is done'

'Thank Heavens. And thanks, E! This means a lot to me'

'Don't mention it' the man laid back.

'Ye Ok? Ye sound a little funny'

'Nothing too bad if we don't count that I've just heard a strange dog, a weird song and you startled me up with the phone. That and the stress of looking after the children... Nothing important'

'Gee. Now I feel bad. Did ye really heard that dog and the tune?'

'Positive'

'Boy!' the dj was speechless. 'What can that be?'

'I dunno but something tells me, we ain't done' E looked through his cameras. All seemed well and yet, he felt uneasy. 'I'll phone you as soon as I get news but, I'm afraid Velma's still at it with Shaggy'

'That girl surely could use a time out'

'Indeed. Let me know if you get anything'

'They need a rest, E'

'Perhaps but, I don't decide when can they rest'

'You could do somethin'bout it' Angel frowned.

'Like what?'

'Ye are a man with cameras and the brains. Finish the sentence'

'I need them to do this'

'They are JUST kids'

'And WE are the adults! Good night' he hung up.

'Night. He can be such a jerk'

E rubbed his tired eyes. Why couldn't she understand what he was doing? Angel could be so stubborn at times! Oh, well. Perhaps it was a good time to sleep, after all. He laid back and slowly let Morpheus take over.

The howl was heard again and this time, nobody saw a large dark dog on top of the hill, covered with blood and scars, eyes fixed on a certain spot in town.

Huhuhuhu.

A startling beginning and our creature is already on stage.

Poor Scooby!

We move on!
